Mizzou decreasing football stadium capacity by 6,000 seats

With today's approval of the south end zone renovation, Mizzou will officially decrease capacity from 71,004 to about 65,000.
I assume many of you will take the low hanging fruit and try to relate this to the SJW protest. I would expect nothing else from the Rant.
However, I am more interested in this from the aspect on two different fronts:
1. Live attendance has been declining and become a major issue for many schools. This is largely due to a better product on TV rather than the hassle of driving potentially hundreds of miles, paying for a ticket, paying for concessions/beer, paying for a hotel (1 or 2 nights), and cost of time. If that isn't bad enough, you get a better view, better replays, and production from the TV broadcast.
2. This probably hasn't had much real world impact YET on football, however the CTE crisis is a major threat to the sport. Either football will cease to exist, making spending millions on stadium expansions more risky in the long term....or football will evolve into an entirely different "less violent" game, which fans may be less interested in.
That being said, I'm interested to see how schools respond to these challenges and issues. Sure, schools like Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, etc are always going to draw big numbers. But for the non-elite programs, I think it may become a more common thing to see. If I recall correctly, Kentucky's most renovation was to improve the stadium while also reducing capacity. I think we may see schools start focusing a lot more on fan experience and stadium atmosphere when renovating and upgrading, rather than adding size and capacity.
TL;DR - Attempting actual discussion on tRant.

It was posted already, but a smart move on their part.

While I'm not a huge fan of the design, I agree that it was smart on Mizzou's part. We weren't filling up the stadium as it was.
I saw somewhere that Mizzou only hit 70,000 nine times in the last 10 years (keep in mind Mizzou counts attendance by people who actually came through the gates and not just tickets sold). That being said, it was pretty clear we could afford a downgrade.
I think the new 65,000 capacity will create a better atmosphere, and should produce exponentially more sellouts.

Ever notice how bad the camera angle is at Missouri's stadium. It's too close to the field and you can't see shite when the ball is outside the twenties?
UT's and A&Ms stadiums give the best camera angle for TV imo.

Probably planned to decrease the need for safe spaces.

A&M's cameras are a mile back and up in the ionosphere

So it won't turn into this?
Or this?
Not even this?
That's a little disappointing

I witnessed your awesome fans leaving in the first quarter of the Bama game last year. The guy in front of me said to his wife "I'm going to the RV".

All of this. Drives me fricking nuts anytime I watch them on tv. Vandy's angle sucks too, but for opposite reasons. Its like the camera is on top of the press box or something

So we're never gonna get this?
That's a massive stadium....like 105,000.
So unless Mizzou wins 5 national titles + the Cardinals/Chiefs/Royals leave.....the answer is no, we aren't :(
ETA: The very last one that you posted is still very much within the realm of possibility. But not for another 20-25 years probably.

Shrinking is the smart move. UK did that as well. More and more people are going to give up the expense and hassle of attending games live and watching from home or a bar going forward.
I got tired of sitting around drunks who spilled their drinks all over the place and were just generally annoying.

The people of Missouri basically only care about the St. Louis Cardinals. Everything else is secondary so it makes sense that Mizzou would decrease their stadium.
