Isn't Mizzou one of the few schools that counts turnstile attendance instead of tickets sold attendance? I know it's not that big a difference in baseball with the low numbers, but I know it's hurt our basketball and football attendance numbers.

Mizzou doesn't get baseball support, maybe you're new on the rant, but that's been established and we don't really care.
We have no shame in our football or basketball attendance, but when it comes to baseball STL people are goin to Cardinal games and KC people might choose to suffer through a Royals game.
Sorry your states don't have MLB... really, it must kinda suck.

It's college baseball who cares

I know this is the big joke, but I really don't get it.
College football has the best players that aren't in the pros. Same with basketball.
Same cant be said of college ball. Every small town with a Wal Mart seems to have a minor league team of some sort. Why is college better? The minor league teams even sell beer.
Is this a "we don't have shite to do around here in spring so let's support our school baseball team" thing or what? I can see the students supporting their team because they're students. I just don't get the alumni making plans to see games unless the team's a winner.
Is it an excuse for alumni to get together and network at a sporting event, or is there a real interest?
I realize this is a non troll/flame question in a troll/flame thread.
I guess I just don't get it.

I personally enjoy college baseball much more than MLB. I just can't get into that till pllayoffs, and by then it's football season. I like it more than college basketball or NBA as well

It's also tough to Follow here in Charlotte (Is it even covered on a national level like football and basketball?) because no one else cares so it's not cool to talk smack like I can in football or try in Basketball.

I'm not questioning the cult. Just wondering why it exists.

This right here is the reason why Mizzou will never have a successful athletic program in the SEC.
You do not get it...have to step up, it is just that way in ALL sports...part of the SEC culture.

Kinda expected this response.
I'm just wondering why people show up to college baseball games.
Some explanation other than one the nazis would use to get support for an unknown cause is appreciated.

because it's a fun sport to watch when the team is worth watching

Do you realize how many future MLB super stars are playing weekend SEC series? I can honestly say I have heckled a few that are playing in the majors today. Also, it is our "happy hour" or cocktail party on the Party Deck, it is fun.
It is the SEC culture, you want to dominate everything in every sport. It is part of the game.
Either compete with the Jimmies and Joe's, or your athletic program will be left in the dust.

Why do Missouri fans pack it in for a run of the mill basketball program? I mean, Missouri hasn't done jack shite in basketball in like...never...
That is the definition of an unknown cause...

or the fact that they have the same amount of fans (maybe more) show for a girls softball game.

Season is shorter and the weather is better in my opinion. I hate sitting at summer games when it is hot as hell and MLB has too many games for folks that like to go to all the home games. Louisville and Lexington are large metropolitan cites with solid semi pro teams yet fans still choose to attend and support college baseball so there is some reason for this.
The Cincinnati Reds are close enough to draw fans from KY and both Cincinnati and Nashville have pro football teams yet college still draws and the weather in Columbia is fairly close to the weather in Lexington as UK has had snow games as well and it was damn cold to sit out and watch that UGA game last night.
The difference seems to be that there are very few core Mizzou fans and a ton of "if they win we might show up" as evidenced by the total lack of traveling fans in Rupp for the NCAA's last week. Seriously, When tiny NC A&T and Colorado State bring for or more times the fans as Mizzou it is embarrassing to have the SEC rep with the weakest turnout. With as much trash is on TV it is nice to attend college sports if you want to get out on a budget and spend quality time with your kids. For the adults it is a time to socialize with fellow fans and see old friends without having to hit the bar scene.
The issue is not why you try to justify why Mizzou does not get behind your teams but why if you wanted to be in the SEC you do not want to support your school the way other SEC fans do?

Either Big 12 Tourney last year and have been to a good number of NCAA Tournaments recently. How's your team doing?

The odd comment had more to do with your view of MLB regular season. It's typically not a sport people jump into in the playoffs, for the majority of baseball fans it's the opposite unless your team made the playoffs.
