Me too! In fact, I'm wearing bell bottoms and a puke green t-shirt.

Y'all just might be in trouble. Zoinks! Ruh-oh!

(specifically what Mizzou fans think the defensive plan will be)

We tend to focus on trying to stuff the run and leave our secondary on an island and have faith they can do it - in part because EJ Gaines at cornerback is a very high level talent that can handle that. It's noteworthy that all three of our opponents in the SEC - Georgia, SC and Vandy - all had to do the majority of their damage to us through the air. Our d-line and linebackers have been fairly good up front.

But that said, they haven't faced an o-line and power rushing attack the likes of Bama yet. Something has to give and I would bet what gives is us getting runover up front for the first time this year defensively and you guys being able to proceed with your usual game plan rather than having to air it out more.

Our only chance is if your entire team eats some bad Mexican food a few hours before kick-off and the cheerleading squad has to fill in... then maybe we could win a 3-2 abortion or something.

Everybody has for the most part stacked the line on Bama so far this year. It hasn't worked yet although the second half against OM could be considered validation of the theory as Bama only mustered field goals in the second half.

I just wonder if Pinkel will roll the dice and try something different since y'all are at home and (no flame) there is really nothing to lose by trying something semi exotic.

I really haven't watched enough Mizzou games this year to have an idea what your defensive strenghts are.

I see the Mizzou defense giving us fits for the first 3 quarters. The fact they have a banged up offense gives me a little better feeling. If their O can't stay on the field then the defense will wear down by the 4th...I hope.

Bama 70
Yankee Tigers 0

The above was a prediction about first downs. Final score will be 222-0 Bama

It's actually very typical for Pinkel and his staff to sort of "let it all hang out" and try some innovative things when high level opponents who are supposed to kill us roll into Columbia. When we upset #1 Oklahoma on our field in 2010 you saw us do a hook and lateral that resulted in a score; when we beat a Top Ten ranked Nebraska team back in 2003 I think we did a fake field goal throw for a TD and also a WR throw back to the QB that resulted in a long TD run.

However, again the problem this time around is we don't have the seasoned starting QB that we'd usually run that kind of put all your chips in, razzle dazzle with. We have a redshirt freshman taking his place and hence our coaches have been really simplifying and shortening the playbook for him, the results of his two full games being the not-so-inspiring performances of us scoring 24 against Az State and only 15 against Vandy. Pinkel knows what he's up against and I don't think he's likely to ask our green young QB to try to pull off funky new tricks that are just gonna put him in position to fail. I think we will keep it very vanilla unfortunately.

You obviously have not watched Mizzou much, Pinkel's teams play not to lose aka we will sit in a Tampa 2 Deep with Backers, 4-5 yards off the line to stop big plays, coverage will be soft except Gaines who will move up. This shitastic D allows decent QB's like Shaw to go 20-21 etc... The Missouri Offense will keep running its 5 wide and get a ton of 3 and outs. D will probably hold up for a half or so then wear out, expect a Bama win along the lines of 37-10 or so. One wildcard is the weather which is calling for strong wind and rains.

I always get nervous for SEC games. I don't care if we are playing Florida or Kentucky. SEC games scare me a little.

Pinkel won't do anything different. He's the coach who said adjustments are overrated. He doesn't believe in game adjustments.

Actually, Pinkel has given up this year. For all I know, he may start our practice team just so our starters don't get banged up worse than they already are.

He'll treat this week as a bye week.

I'm actually really thankful to Arkansas for settting a precedent whereby no amount of bludgeoning we receive from Bama on our home field can possibly look any worse than what they did to you guys earlier this year. Thanks Hogs, you guys are neato.

They do this on individual plays but especially on D they sit back, only game I remember a huge change was UGA this year, Steck was stemming and blitzing like crazy.

I know none of us are happy but thats a bit harsh dude. Defense overall is still ranked like 27th in the country even with having to put up with our horrific offense that never does anything and keeps our D on the field so long it gets worn down.

Frankly against teams like Georgia and South Carolina, I think it was part of the defensive game plan to stuff the run and say OK if we are gonna lose lets lose through the air. We did, and they did beat us through the air, but its not what they wanted to do. You know the wanted Lattimore to be the one controlling the game and tempo. Shaw will be the first one to tell you he doesn't want to be out there having to throw bombs all day. The fact he did it is impressive, but in terms of picking our poison, I'm fine with the way Steckel and company approached those games from a strategy standpoint. If our offense were doing much of anything at all this year, it's a strategy that may well have worked.

With the crappy performance we had before the bye, the desperation mode that Missouri is in, and the fact that it will be a hostile environment on the road, we could definitely lose this game. Anyone else worried?

...probably not.

i hope that eases your mind, bro.

Sure it was harsh but look at how soft we had our DB's play vs USC and you see the shades of the horrific showings vs Texas and OU all those years. Our D looked best vs UGA and we were way more aggressive that game. I actually think Steck is an OK coordinator but is hampered by our ultra conservatve attitude as a team.

We've already pulled out the I formation. Nothing new.

I was thinlking on the defensive side.

Like I said I haven't watched Mizzou enough to know if they do a lot of zone blitz, tampa 2 (as another poster said they do run) or whatever.

I suppose a small part of me wishes Pinkel would come out in a cover 6 or prevent

In that case why is Bama a 22 point favorite? Bama still hasn't played any body yet so it is just bull shite. :rimshot:
