I remember in the 80's and 90's the Clarion Ledger and Jackson news stations would celebrate any Mississippi player that would sign with an out of state school.

Shane Matthews was a perfect example.

as someone who has interest in eventually teaching a high school, it just makes me want to hop over to the state of Alabama. Mississippi already has a teacher shortage, so they're kinda talking out of both sides of their mouth here

My favorite teacher in HS used to talk about her little boy Shane. He was that Shane Matthews. At the time, his Dad was our head football coach and his Mom taught English (American Lit).

A small talent base.

A floundering educational system for keeping large enough numbers of prospects eligible to make it to college.

A small alumni base for funding programs.

A friend of mine has a mom who works in a hospital in Jackson and said that about %75 of African Americans that walk in for general entrees are diagnosed with some form of HIV.

Complete B U L L S H I T ! ! !

I work in a Jackson hospital and this is the stupideststatement I have ever heard. And there is only one type of HIV. And although the percentage of HIV+ patients are higher in the black community it is nowhere near 75%
