I see it as one of two possibilities:
1) We win a really close one
or
2) We get blown out 20 +
So basically it's like every coonference game you play each and every year... Got it

Wow, I like Missy State and the points here, folks. Give me the 14.
I like that as well. The Big 12 favorite is not 14 points better than a mid-tiered SEC West Team. In fact, the Cowchips will be lucky to even win the game. I think I just might put some money on this game and take State and the points.

so much fail in this thread. I am glad to see some of the Texas A&M fans correct the stupidity of others.
Some points:
1. There are a helluva lot of State fans that don't live in tiny Starkville- and many live in the Jackson Metro area- which is closer to Houston than Stillwater.
2. State returns their entire OL line. The same OL that was 2nd in the SEC in sacks allowed last year. Gabe Jackson maybe the top OG in the country. 3of them will be starting for the 3rd year. This will be a good group in 2013
3. State returns all their RB's. Easily in the top half of the SEC group-wise, and Perkins is a top 5 RB in the conference
4. Our TE's may be the best group in the SEC. We have 4 guys that will play, and will use more 2 and 3 TE sets.
5. State will be improved on the DL. Pass rush will be improved, plus Chris Jones will be added. DT's will be improve also with 3 freshman DT's seeing playing time last year
6. We will be pretty good at LB- and this group will be better simply because of improved DL play. McKinney will be better in his 2nd year after being a Freshman AA, Skinner- now a 3yr starter- moves to his natural position to replace Lawrence. We add Matthew Wells at WLB for his speed. Add in the Browns who redshirted last year and this group is solid.
7. WR? Better athletes but less experience. But we will use alot less 3 and 4 WR sets than we have the last 4 years.
8. Secondary has talent but will be inexperienced. People are overplaying the inexperience card vs Ok State- but this group will have 4 weeks to get ready for them. Shouldnt be alot of surprises. Adding a Juco AA at CB plus the guys that played last year a good deal should make us ok. Veteran safety Whitley should also help keep things straight
Rumors of our demise are greatly exaggerated
Ok State lost 4 starters off the OL and will be going against an SEC DL- advantage State. And should allow us to slow them down a good deal.
Their pass defense was absolutely atrocious at 113th in the nation. They should be improved- but they wont be anything our WR's and TE's should worry about.
They are well-coached and a good program. It should be a good game. Early season spreads are the hardest for Vegas to guess- and I think this one is way too inflated.

I love how every OM poster here is a fricking expert on all things Okie State

OK State wins. MSU wins 5 games next year.

I wouldn't touch it. Okie Lite should win easily with State rebuilding on defense and having no proven WRs, but it is an early game and it might be an ugly one (lots of turnovers etc).

Yeah that's way too many points.

The Okies have a lot of talent returning and they may very well win the Big 12 this year.
Mississippi State's defense will be no match for OSU's high-octane offense.
My rooting interest will be with the Grinders, but my money will be on the Okies at -14. OSU will win by at least 3 touchdowns.

I was mainly alluding to their returning wide receivers in senior Tracy Moore and Josh Stewart.
The Okies' defense is nothing to write home about but ya'll won't be able to stop their offense.

They got 4 WRs coming back who all had 30+ receptions and 400+ yards, with one if those guys putting up like 100/1200/7 last yr with 3 starting QBs. To me, that's impressive.
I know they lost their stud RB, several OLs, and their defense sucked. But let's be honest, state had some serious trouble with spread offenses down the stretch last year and you just know OK St. is gonna stretch the field against State's green secondary.
My opinion on the game is this:
If State gives up done big plays and can't get anything going offensively early in the game, it could get bad.
On the flip side, if state can establish a ground game with Perkins/Robinson early on and cut down on OSU's possessions, I could see them winning.
But don't get it twisted Dawg fans, you have your work cut out for you week 1, as do we.

I'm with you that they've got some good skill talent coming back -- and I really don't know how to project the game. I just think people are giving them too much credit based on the past, while giving us too little based on the last couple of games. This is a brand new defense now -- and they are breaking in a brand new offense.
They literally lost 4 starting OL -- and moved their starting right tackle over to guard. Also breaking in a new OC that will be calling plays -- so who knows what to expect there? Basically, I don't think they are going to have time in the pocket to beat us vertically or really take advantage of the "green" corners. They are going to have to beat us with the short/quick stuff.
I don't think you can take anything at all out of our defensive play last year -- as far as how we defend certain things. Collins is going to bring alot more pressure than Wilson -- and be in the same vein as Diaz was while at MSU -- where we defended the spread pretty well.
Wilson's whole problem was the "read-react" thing gave too much space -- and everyone knows that the spread causes havoc in space. Wilson totally wasted our DB talent by not bringing heat and giving them a chance.

Why does every predict OSU to be so improved then? Not fans but experts. Steel just put them in his top 5. Not that I think they are that good but I don't understand what makes them so attractive to experts
