unless the Texas Alum write a very big check, this ship is sinking fast and in a conference that allows the sinking ship to lead the fleet.
Good job, Aggies. Way to gig it right up their arse. SEC!

If he is looking right at the UT President and Big 12 Commissioner (which may be the same person) then he is Boss.... I will go with that.

They're in a bad way.
With weeks to prepare, Strong has em looking worse now than they looked at the beginning of the season.
Oklahoma is sliding backwards as well.
That conference is going to implode on itself.

Mack Brown stayed to long, kind of like Les Miles at LSU

They'll recover. But will enjoy as long as it lasts.

Like most teams - if you don't have a QB worth a damn its going to be a long season in CFB these days. Swoopes is horrible for the type of offense they run.
You would think Texas could recruit a QB.

Just read an article in the Austin Statesman that perfectly captures the situation. Rather than pointing to: the obvious gaping void at QB, the lousy offensive play calling, rotten special teams play, etc., Coach Strong characterizes the problem thusly:
Rather, it's about capturing their burnt orange hubris--that they should simply win as a result of who they are. (Charlie ... try recruiting some depth at QB, maybe?)
Then there's this gem:
It's that kind of malarkey that continues to feed the beast and set em up for failure.
Y'all likely don't get it, but they genuinely think they're the best at all they do.
Finally, there's this:
No tip of the hat to Arkansas' play.
No credit where it's due.
They just didn't execute.
Sorry for the lengthy post, but it was so emblematic of Horn Psych 101, it needed to be posted.
Texas embarrassed 35-7 by Arkamsas in the Texas Bowl
quote:Allow me to translate. In hornspeak, winning is described as some kind of esoteric formula (I.e., "Texas meaning something") that only they have the power to unlock and understand . It's never about them sucking. And rarely is it an issue of poor fundamentals.
"At some point we've got to develop and get the pride back in this program," first-year Longhorns coach Charlie Strong said. "Texas has got to mean something. Right now it doesn't mean much."

"I just think those guys don't want to go out like this again," he said. "Six and seven isn't the standard at Texas and we all know that."

Never count out a team that has a rich talent base.
They are 1 dynamic coach away from being on top.

What???
Yea, so Texas only had 2 yards rushing, but that's 28 more then they had the last time we played them in a bowl game. They're making progress, I tell ya!

Texas will be back on top in due time; the question is whether or not Strong will be the one to lead them there. Aggy will be back to playing second fiddle to UT as well as still being behind TCU and Baylor. I realize that a #57 total defensive ranking might look incredible when you are sitting at #103 but beating a second string quarterback and a far less talented team doesn't equate to much for Aggy.

Texas will eventually recover but their conference may not.

Recover from what? Texas has been mediocre way more often than they have been great.

Remember how everyone made fun of Bilema last year? Haha, the Hogs will never get off the canvas; they'll suck forever. Well, they're not lying down anymore. And there's a good chance Strong will get Texas back on their feet.
It takes a new coach a couple of years to wring out the low character mentality that begins to infuse a football team when its old coach loses his fighting spirit. For examples, see Arkansas the last two years; Alabama when Saban took over (lost to a directional Louisiana team); and the New Orleans Saints (developing).
