I know.

I said as much.

But please point out where the rules differentiate between-

-the wrist vs. the hand

and

-the front vs. the back of said hand or wrist

Because the rule posted here does neither.

Me? I just posted a pic I saw for the guy. I haven't given my opinion on whether I thought he was down or not. I don't start crap nor do I even post very often.

frick that.

The refs in general have enough trouble with written rules, much less interpreting unwritten rules.

Thanks!

So it has nothing to do with what hand the ball is in.

And it doesn't enumerate where the hands and feet end.

It doesn't differentiate between front and back of the hand.

The excuse given for the call in the Sugar Bowl was his wrist is part of the hand, but you can clearly see Dyer's wrist was down, too.

Can someone who says there is a difference between the back and front of the hand find my the rule where it spells out that difference?

It's in the Philosophy of the Rules (Proper Application); not the rule book proper.

The Yahoo story about the exact same thing says what really is correct.

quote:

either both runners are down, or both are alive. It can't be one or the other.

I say neither of them are down.

Hell, D.J.'s doing the one hand up, one hand down gig. I'm saying... one should cancel out the other.

That's what I've been saying all day.

But, according to our resident ref, there is a Philosophy book that refs follow, in addition to the actual rules.

Let's say D.J. catches a pass with his hand in that position. Would he be down?

Of course, especially if it was Auburn, LSU, Georgi or Florida...
