What is the one constant over LSU's run? Players come and go. Its the Coach. You can't hand pick which coaches get credit and which don't, at least not for this length of time and at such a high level.

Culture is the hardest thing to maintain.

Les cemented the culture.

I see someone has never been an athlete.

This is one of the dumbest comments I've ever seen on this board.

And that's really really saying a lot.

LSU was lucky they got a coach that continually expanded on nick Sabans success

While Saban was good at LSU , miles took over a 4 loss team in 2005 while the worst natural disaster in LA history was happening.

Not to mention the good folks in LA still getting over the worst man-made disaster in their history earlier the same year.

I thought about it for a minute before posting it. Most of the dumb comments are attempted flames.

This one was pure ignorance.

Look how many teams that have won it all that havn't maintained:

Texas
Southern Cal
Fla. (I know yall will be back)
tOSU
OU
Fla.st. (Oh lord half my friends wanted Jumbo. He is RC Slocum. Has the schedule and the talent to run it but will lose to a 15 pt dog every year.)
Nebraska
Miami
Michigan
Notre Dame

The whole its easy to win at LSU is such a joke. You don't think its easy at Southern Cal. My God they have every advantage known to man AND the best talent in the country. Wonder why they suck?

Notre Dame whines about academic standards - bs - they get great recruits every year and have as a recruiter ESPN and NBC. Wonder why they sucked for 15 years.

Miles in my opinion has earned a couple of bad years - the run he and Saban are on with developing NFL talent is absurd,

They are different - But they both produce a winning culture and they win.

F the Miles haters.

If it were so easy then LSU would have always been a powerhouse. People that say that are clueless and probably just young and stupid.

This board is full of some complete idiots. Don't let them bother you.

It's common knowledge that MAINTAINING a powerhouse is harder than Building one. Urban Meyer and Saban were saying this on the Espn stage after this year's BCSCG.

It was anything but cushy - and LSU getting a coach from MSU. LSU doesnt hire Saban and LSU is not LSU as we know it today.

Many losing seasons.

Oh, but there are many ways to play that game. What if LSU had hired Steve Spurrier or Mike Shanahan in 1987 (both applied and Shanahan was a finalist) instead of Mike Archer? LSU wouldn't have gone downhill and wouldn't have hired Curley Hallman, and I wouldn't have had to watch LSU go 2-9 in 1992.

Richt was our next choice after Saban btw.

Other than the 90's, LSU has always had a good program.

Miles is a great coach. He is neck and neck with Saban.

Ill never get the hate for Les. The Bama /LSU situation is a thing of beauty. It takes some ball players over a long stretch to keep that close to Nick.

Bama posters how about a little respect for your opponent on this thread. LSU Bama has been for Natty a long time now and the games have been epic (except - well you know). But that team grinded out a W at Bama.

Two Great teams and 2 great coaches. You cant be that close to Nick and not be good. Even maintaining is hard as hell.

Truth.
