The SEC only needs at minimum TWO more programs to sponsor Men's Soccer to create an SEC Championship and have it be a full conference sport, allowing South Carolina and Kentucky to leave C-USA and re-join the family.

I'm really surprised that Florida doesn't have a men's soccer team. There has to be a great desire on that campus for the sport. And they certainly have the resources for a team. Same goes for A&M.

Come on Gators and Aggies. Let's get men's soccer going in the SEC.

Aggie, Florida and Alabama have the budget RIGHT now to start a new women's program and bring in men's soccer. could be politics, or just a lack of serious interest at the moment.

What women's programs do we have that other schools don't have?

Basketball
Cross Country
Golf
Gymnastics
Rifle
Soccer
Softball
Swimming & Diving
Tennis
Track & Field
Volleyball

All of those are co-ed sports except for Volleyball and Gymnastics, which I assume make up for football together.

What a waste of money to give that many scholarships for crap nobody wants to watch.

Is only 4 teams reasonable though? That's 6 conference games. Ideally, a 14 team table with 26 games would be bad fricking arse.

If they do indeed lengthen the season yes. Plus all it would take if for one of two of them to be really good and start contending nationally to develop a fanbase. If they just so happen to be natural rivals (like florida and uga), fan interest would follow.

(And yes it would, you're looking at a conference that sinks large quantities of dough into softball and gymnastics.... because the SEC is that damn good).

It would be nice if parents and kids weren't afraid of football. I've seen as many concussions from soccer as I have football.

Yeah we spent a ton of money on the Women's soccer facilities. The TAMU soccer camps attract people from around the country, and some even from other countries. I feel like men's soccer should be a priority.

I'm amazed we haven't added gymnastics. There has been talk about beach volleyball, but that won't be enough to offset men's soccer.

Amen to that. I love going to our beach volleyball matches. It was a great add to our program.

This one kind of bugs me b/c women's gymnastics is actually pretty impressive to watch. It seems like of all the women's sports you could add this one has the most potential to attract pretty decent sized crowds.

I just dont think the SEC will be able to compete in the sport,

UF has been very successful since starting in 2010, they've finished 5 of the first 7 years in the top 5.

Also put quite a bit of money into it and built a standalone lacrosse facility.

That was uncalled for.

Aren't the insurance rates really high on it or something? And you'd have to build facilities from scratch.
