Other great analysis by Mel Kiper:

“JaMarcus Russell’s gonna immediately energize that Raider Nation, that fanbase, that football team- on the practice field, in that locker room- three years from now you could be looking at a guy that’s certainly one of the elite top five quarterbacks in this league. You’re talking about a 2-3 year period once he’s under center. Look out because skill level that he has is certainly John Elway like.”

"Ki-Jana (Carter) could be the next Bo Jackson"

"He (Peyton Manning) isn't John Elway, Dan Marino or Jim Kelly, but he's as good as it gets in college football," Kiper said of Manning. "A lot of these teams in the NFL are desperate for quarterbacks and he's the best out there, with Ryan Leaf a real close second."

They beat a depleted Michigan team and depleted Arkansas team. Alabama has not been tested yet, even though people want to act like these were statement games

I agree with this part of his statement. Michigan shouldn't even be ranked IMO. I guess we'll see what happens when they play ND this weekend.

Michigan was a test. Small one, but a test. Agree about Arky being depleted.

Do you just surf the interwebz looking for quotes that disrespect Alabama?

There are a couple of them that have low self esteem.

I'll admit that people are riding BAMA's nuts a little too much right now. We gotta cool it and see how the season plays out. We definitely have a great team this year though and theres not a big dropoff like everyone was predicting.

1) He's right that Alabama hasn't truly been tested.
2) Overrated? That's preseason ranking for you. We started out in the top 5, beat a top ten team, and there you go. We're number one.
3) I have yet to see any team in the country play on the same level as LSU or Alabama. Period. I've watched every game I could this season and so far, no one comes close. By his rationale, if Alabama is overrated, then the rest of the teams blow so much arse it's unbelievable.
4) Kiper munches turds.

I agree with everything but the "depleted" Michigan comment.

To start making some of the crazy predictions about Alabama after three games is just stupid. "Can Anyone Beat Alabama?" makes me laugh. But thanks for the silly hype, it helps recruiting.

You cant call a unanimous number 1 team overrated unless you breath their name in the same sentence as the 49ers or some shite.

I think this might be his point. Even ignoring fans on the internet fricking around, haven't there been people in the media throwing this kind of hyperbole around? This is what the media does, they always want to declare a team each year as an all-time great. In that sense, there is some argument for the "overrated" tag. I don't think he means they shouldn't be number 1 or that they aren't possibly the best team, just that they aren't unbeatable like some media is suggesting (now that the former unbeatable team USC has lost).

LINK
Alabama is part of the SEC.

There are team forums for Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, MSU, and Georgia.

Is the SECr only for the other teams? If so, it's gonna suck so much more.

Yeah, I don't quite get this either.

The whole conversation of whether Alabama is overrated or not is retarded anyhow. Think about it: who the frick knows whether or not Alabama deserves to be #1 until the end of the season? The only way to judge is by comparing them to other teams and how they play their competition.

Take USC for instance. Everyone was making them out to be worldbeaters until they lost last weekend. So, was it because USC was overrated? Or because Stanford wasn't rated highly enough?

It's all subjective bullshite. Why can't we just let the season play out, ditch preseason rankings, and enjoy football?
