338 yards from scrimmage and 2 TDs in that stretch.

Until Fournette performs against a good defense (not a knock, look at the stats) and Chubb shows he can come back from injury, you have to take McCaffrey.

If you don't know who McCaffrey is, you don't need to be in this thread.

That said, I will repeat, that knowing what we know right now, I would pick Fournette.

McCaffrey might be more productive at A&M or OM just because of the way the offense is set up, but I agree with most that he would probably end up playing a lot of slot receiver. But LF7 and Chubb would improve any offense, underutilized or not. I would take any of those 3 and be thankful.

Fournette would do well in any offense IMO.

He has great hands and lateral quickness. Hoping LSU gets creative with him this year, especially in November.

I'd go with any of the 3. I think McCaffrey came the closest to Henry late last year. He was a beast. They both were.
I wonder when was the last time there were THREE (at least) great Heisman candidate backs in one year?
(Not dissing any other candidates, just can't name 'em at the moment.)

Derrius Guice at LSU is a bigger version of McCafferey and if utilized right will be a stud.

Look up Royce Freeman from Oregon. Not saying he is a Heisman candidate, but he is a sleeper

Buga - 31 yards on 19 carries 1.6 ypc.

I'd say that stat line only serves to highlight the fact that he averaged about a buck-eighty against everyone else, in spite of losing the starting FB, starting TE and two OL for a total of more than 20 games. Thanks for that!

Trolling hard, but I'll play along

quote:

McCaffrey due to his versatility. Kiffin would be able to feature him in so many ways that it would be a nightmare for opponents. Him plus Ridley, Stewart, Howard, Foster and then big bad Bo Scar.

With a loaded WR group, McCaffrey would be nothing more than a slower Kenyan Drake on offense. Now as a return man, I think he'd be an upgrade over both Bama returners last year.

quote:

Chubb if completely healthy would be my pick. He was able to put up 100+ yds on Bama last year and when healthy is the best RB in the Nation

Unlike others who have (not in this thread, but since it occurred), I won't take away from Chubb's long run. This is a good pick IF he was 100% going into the year, but I doubt he will be.

quote:

Fournette got his yards first part of the season vs the weaker partnof the L5u schedule. Then he disappeared in the crutial November stretch of games vs Bama, Ark and Ole Miss.

Fournette had one bad game the entire year and it was on the road with zero passing game and blocking didn't exist for his team. I will never put that on him. His offensive line, QB, and coaches let him down immensely. Plus, nobody in all of college, faces another run defense close to what Bama put out last year. So as a sophomore, no passing game, no run blocking, no strategy from head coaches, on the road vs the best front 7 in a long time, he had a bad game. BFD.

Other than that game vs Bama, he had AT LEAST 127 yards from scrimmage in every other one in 2015.

Arkansas
He had a way better ypc vs Arkansas than Henry. This despite the fact that after only having 3 sacks all the season up to that point, Arkansas had 5 sacks against us.

Ole Miss
He had 108 rush yards and 72 receiving yards on 4 catches vs Ole Miss (180 yards from scrimmage). This despite a 59 yard run being called back (2nd play of LSU's first drive) over nonsense, and LSU having to start a redshirt freshman and TWO true freshmen on the offensive line (one true freshman was because of an injury during that week or vs Arkansas). Let's not forget our passing game having another abysmal day.

TAMU
He rushed for 159 and 1 TD vs TAMU plus had 43 receiving yards on 4 catches (202 yards from scrimmage). He did they while we were in a game that from a public standpoint, Miles job was on the line. His QB's stat line was horrendous (7/21 33.3% 83 yards 4.0 ypa 1 int), where Fournette alone had over half of his completed passes.

So again, McCaffrey wouldn't add much but an uptick in the return game, Chubb is not likely 100% healthy to start the season, and we're talking about an RB (Fournette) who was actually better than Henry, and would be in a Nick Saban offense.

But hey man, it's your opinion though.

ETA: LSU relies HEAVILY, and I do mean that with all caps, on a FB for its offense and we lost our junior starter vs South Carolina (2 games B4 Bama), and had to replace him with a true freshman. That completely screwed us (and yes I know our offense sucks, but a legit FB makes it go).

Sorry, but it's true. Padding your stats by rushing 90 times in the last 2 games before the ceremony, doesn't make you better. Nor does averaging 4.0 vs ULM, 3.75 vs Mich St, and 3.5 vs Arkansas. He was also nonexistent in the passing game.

Haha. But padding your stats against awful defenses in September and October makes you totally legit. Except in the eyes of every major award voters.

Hey, that's not fair comparing the yards put up by Fournette vs Henry. Henry's big arse forehead gave him a good 2 and a half yards per carry.
