Kirby will get hired at Louisville
What if Kirby is the brains behind the scenes at Bama, and if he left the big tall head coach would fall apart, and replace Vandy, Arkie, and LSU as the worst teams in the SEC?
I would laugh a lot, chuckle every day I would

Maybe massive for Bama. Yella Fella already has that check written...

I don't think former coaches being on the payroll would be a new concept for Auburn or Bama.

The upper level schools who hire a Defensive minded coach are making a mistake. Boom, Chizik, and even Strong are good examples of short term success, but long term questions. The Offense is something that requires constant changes, and Defensive Coaches are slow to make those changes.
I also think UF is done experimenting with Assistant Coaches as potential candidates.

Strong
How is Strong a long-term question? Seems to me the foundation he built at Louisville is pretty solid.
Saban, Dantonio, Patterson, Mora, Graham, Anderson, Whittingham, Stoops, Pelini are all defensive coaches inside the Top 25 right now.

That's because those guys didn't field consistent defenses. Stallings had a lot of success as a defensive minded coach because every year he was going to have a great defense. Saban is the same way. To say a defensive minded coach can't be successful is just wrong. Couldn't we say the same thing about Malzahn at this point? He has had short term success at Auburn, but cracks are beginning to show because his defense sucks.

Most on that list have had Offensive issues in their program, that has prevented them from competing on a consistant basis at the highest level. In todays game, you can win big with a great Offense with an average Defense (see AU last year). It is hard to win with a great Defense and an average Offense.

Strong has yet to get the players that he wants to run his program. You can't say he's a questionable hire yet when he's taken over a Texas program that has been dismal since 2010.

Mainly from what I saw him at Louisville. He got them to a certain level, but could not take it any higher. They always seemed to lose a game they shouldn't have. His use of Bridgewater at times was questionable.

He got Louisville to the damn Sugar Bowl. How much higher is he supposed to get them? Yeah they lost to UCF last year, that same team who upset a hot Baylor team in the Fiesta Bowl. I see nothing wrong with Strong other than he's untested in dealing with the amount of pressure to succeed at UT because its UT and their former rival, A&M, is succeeding in a better conference.

Dude, Louisville was a dumpster fire when he took over. Kragthorpe had destroyed that program. Withing 4 years he had him in the SUGAR BOWL beating a TOP 5 Florida team.
I mean, what else could his ceiling be? He was at a Big East school.
I think he was a fantastic hire at Texas.

The Big East was shite by that time. With that schedule, all you had to do was win 50% of your tough game and you are in a BCS Game. Which is exactly what he did. It hasn't and it will not translate to the Big 12.

Me thinks the gator fan base would riot if Foley hires another former Georgia player, current DC, to be their coach.
Too soon.
But it would be very entertaining if he did.
This. At first glance, he is Muschamp 2.0. Their fans would lose it.

I mean, when he got there they were winning 0 of their Big East games. By the time he left they ran the Big East. And then they punched Florida in the mouth in their bowl game. And then the next year they punched Miami in the mouth in their bowl game.
And if you haven't noticed, a win over TCU would make them 7-5 in a season most thought they wouldn't make a bowl game.
I think the guy is really good and the type of guy I'd want running my program. Nothing he has done so far at Louisville or Texas makes me think he won't be successful. I don't know if he will make them a perennial top 5 team, but I think they'll be really solid.

They've got a great chance to finish 11-1, with remaining games against New Mexico (3-7) at home and at Air Force (8-3).

Need Boise to lose to Utah State to win the Mtn West and probably get the at-large bid to one of the BCS Bowls (or whatever they call them now).
