Once I am home I will see if I can find links to what I read.

From what I was reading a first concussion makes it 3x more likely you will get an additional concussion.

I had a nationally respected trainer call me Saturday, (he was actually on the sideline of his college game) and ask about the details of my sons injury. Short version of our conversation is every case is different, each childs goals are taking into consideration as well our best guess at risks. He is setting up an evaluation by doctors who work in a sports medicine concussion clinic for us.

what about 5 concussions? i've had 5 and about 50-60 gran-mal seizures in my lifetime. does that make me prone to have CTE problems down the road?

This seems like a question for your neurologist. If that doesn't work, try the OT.

Don't know about seizures. But 5 concussions? That is a lot.

If you have epilepsy you probably have some kind of neurological specialist. You really ought to ask him about that, and see about getting an evaluation.

It's not a death sentence, and your life isn't basically over if you actually do have a case of it.

But part of me looks at risk versus reward, and it doesn't seem worth it in most cases, if you can avoid the risk in the first place.

But in no way shape or form, as much as in Football.

Well, except in those sports (the source of which I've already linked upthread) where they already happen more than in football.

I have a neurologist. I was just trying to get a response and do a little tough guy bragging. I know i'll prolly die sometime when i'm 90 or so because of whiskey and wild women. Will have nothing to do with CTE. Cowbells protect my brain.

We are so advanced we get our carpetbaggers from Pakistan.

Personally I think the woman is kind of nutty. She is like a dumb, straight, version of Lindsay Graham.

For the dad with the son with two concussions: that would certainly change the equation for me. As someone said, each concussion makes the next one more likely. And more damaging. Unless he has the possibility of a scholarship, I’d think real hard about letting him continue.
