I'm still amazed that Auburn fans actually believe a conspiracy theory that Alabama football feels threatened by UAB football and shut down the program as a result.

The only thing UAB has that could threaten Alabama or Auburn is basketball. And yet basketball is the sport the UA BOT is trying to support more.

The conspiracy makes absolutely no sense.

So you think the AU BOT treats AUM as an equal to AU?

There is a preponderance of evidence the BoT meddled in the athletic affairs of UAB.

This is a message board, not a civil trial. Also since you are using words like that, you should know that a "preponderance" does not make something a "fact."

Let me guess.....the evil UA BOT did not let you go to the top 25 law school in the state. Always crushing the little guy....

Forbes' College Basketball's Most Valuable Teams 2015

4. Kentucky $31.5 mil
11. Tennessee $18.7 mil
14. Alabama $12.3 mil
18. Arkansas $11.6 mil
20. Missouri $10.9 mil

quote:

14. Alabama Crimson Tide
Team value: $12.3 million
One-year change: 41%
Revenue: $15 million
Profit: $8.2 million
Conference: SEC
Head coach: vacant*

Alabama¢s athletic department is one of the biggest contributors to academic programming, annually sending upwards of $6 million to university initiatives. The basketball team has been succeeding financially despite the poor on-court performance; the Tide haven¢t been in the NCAA Tournament since 2012, a pitiful streak that recently cost head coach Anthony Grant his job. * Former head coach Anthony Grant was terminated following the 2013-14 season.

Wow, resorting to personal insults. Disappointing.

Why do UA fans keep bringing AUM into this? I have not read any legitimate news articles about AUM feeling mistreated by the BoT but plenty from UAB.

Ua ha close to 40k students, right? UAH and UAB total for about what, 25k? Do you not think it fair for them to have better representation on the UA BoT. I bet then there would be no conspiracy theories. And for the record, I do not think anyone seriously believes Alabama is threatened by UAB football, but quite a few believe certain members of the board are opposed to UAB having a successful football program.

Do you not think it is unusual that a board member of any University would veto artificial turf for a practice field when the money had already been pledged and a company contacted to do the work?

I do not think most Alabama alumni want to put UAB down,as a matter of fact, the UA newspaper wrote an editorial supporting UAB, but you have some old men who do not care about fairness or transparency. The same could be said about AU BoT, but they are not the ones in the news for killing a program.

AUM doesn't even have a football program to kill. That's true for just about all the SEC sister schools. Bottom line is UAB was given a chance not given to AUM
and others and it didn't work out. Trying to portray UA as some sort of villain is ignorant.

UAB - NCAA win
Bama - NIT win
auburn - has Bruce Pearl.

And which of the three won't shut up about their basketball prowess?

Why does everything to an Alabama fan have to be about AU?

This is a UAB story, it is newsworthy. Articles have been written in Washington Post, New York Times and Espn within the last few months about this issue.

Keep your head in the sand, but do not think that most non-Alabama fans (As well as many Alabama fans) do not see this for what it really is.
I do not know of a SINGLE University anywhere that votes of no confidence were issued against a standing president from the SGA, faculty and alumni where the board of trustees still gives full support. Do you know of any examples?

All three teams have reason to be optimistic tbh.

Alabama will likely get a really good coach, I think Auburn getting Pearl will be good for UA basketball. UAB is getting lots of exposure and Pearl has brought enthusiasm and much better recruiting.

I suggest writing a letter to the editor, ecause we don't fricking care. Tell uab not to let Bartow frick with Bryant and they could still have their little program. We should get Jr to run for Governor. Now go away.
