It's what he does with the not-obvious talent that will make him a winner or loser.

Yes, because our head coaching position has been a veritable revolving door for the past 12 years. It was obvious that no offensive coordinator was going to do well with Les Miles as the head coach. Now that he's gone, it looks like our offensive coordinator will actually be allowed to, you know, coordinate our offense.

WTF!!! Wasn't Les the dean of SEC head coaches before he was canned?
Look, it's good to be optimistic about your team, but history tells us you may want to wait until you get deep into your season before any chest-beating starts...

I will simply say I was not that impressed with his skill set when we ran up against him 2 years ago. State's defense was putrid and they managed very little sustained production up until garbage time, final score 51-28.

Keep this in mind, he was fired by NC State prior to his genie in the bottle season at Pit last year.

The jury is definitely still out on him.

LOL Daboll's career mirrors Cam Cameron's...up and coming QB coach hired as an NFL OC then jumps around to 3 different NFL teams in a couple of years and then picked up as a TE coach somewhere then back to college.

JMO, but I think Cam Cameron would have done a fine job at LSU if Miles had just stepped away and let the man do his damn job. Les Miles finger prints were all over that offense from start to finish, Cameron wasn't allowed to get creative or innovative the entire time he was there.

Les was stubborn to the point that it hindered any type of evolution into current offensive schemes. He is "old man" football and for some reason he never had enough trust in his OC to let go of the reigns. I think deep down he wanted to let go, he was just incapable.

Oh well, Canada will either be a huge improvement or he'll be mediocre. Either way LSU benefits because the offense won't be predictable and stale.

Serious question: Is there any articles or statements that address this that were made by Les or Cam?

It certainly seems he had a strong impact on the offensive side the ball regardless of how he did it but the HC/Coordinator relationship always intrigues me because every fan base reaches a movement when they have to find someone to blame. Arkansas fans have experienced this in regards to Enos. When we see a play or series that seems out of character for him many think Bert had a part to play in controlling the play calling.

Yes. That's why I sarcastically mentioned the revolving door in answer to your ridiculous statement about coaches going in and out of our program for years. We have switched OCs before, but the real problem always stayed the same: Les Miles. Now that he's gone, there's good reason to think that the offensive coordinator will be allowed to do his job. If he's good, and the consensus seems to be that Canada is, then the offense may be good, too.

In the case of one HC and one OC, yes, that can be hard to determine. When one HC goes through five OCs (most of which have had success before and/or after being his OC) and the same crappy offensive scheme and play-calling keeps getting trotted out every year, it becomes clear who and what the problem is.

I think they're finally coming to grips with the fact that they'll never be more than second fiddle to Alabama on the football field....and that's really not so terrible.

Playing second fiddle to Alabama right now, if that's your only loss in the regular season ain't bad at all because you're still in the playoff contention.

You knows what he is going to do but the Sec is known for their defense. As for Mullen, he calls the shots and does a good job.
