from what little i've read, he's going back to that style... probably b/c it's enjoyable for fans and kids want to play in it.

he may change down the road... we'll see... personally, i wouldn't mind a couple sweet 16 flameouts anyway i can get them.

No. Maybe if we have some changes at the administrative level it would be possible in a few years.

lmao Cuonzo is so butthurt.

Sorry the fans didn't congratulate you for your shitty arse coaching performance the last 2.5 years.

Hope you ride those Mercer and UMass wins all the way to Milwaukee.

Now you're quoting Nashville Talk Radio and Clay Travis' butt-buddy? The 'campire' is "me and Clay was talkin ain't we want Zo to leave"

it seems like no one has a good half court offense anymore... with the few exceptions like Michigan and UF.

Most teams don't move. They just rely on ball screens or post up isolations. But the thing is, you have to have a really good, smart individual player (at either a ball handling position or in the post) to do this.

LSU tries to throw the ball into Johnny O'Bryant every possession and just "let him go to work." Is Johnny O'Bryant a pretty good player? Yes. Is he a really good, smart player? frick no.

You have to move. You have to screen. You have to have unselfish players who know how to pass and know when to swing the ball quick. I'm sure he didn't have that at Tennessee.

There are no ball screens in Pearl's offense. Zero. It can get very ugly against good defensive teams when the point guard just pounds the ball for 25 seconds waiting for somebody to get open.

You know zilch about basketball offense then. Figured I should've known after the way ya'll talked so much shite about Cuonzo.

Ball screens do not belong in a legit motion offense. The problems with offenses today is AAU basketball breeding players to watch the star guy run around in circles till he scores. Don't blame coaches for players failures to keep screening and moving in a motion.

When you have guys as lazy as Scotty Hopson, Cam Tatum, Renaldo Woolridge, etc. (who he recruited by the way) why would you continue to run an offense that requires constant movement and motion like the flex?

The personnel late in his tenure would have been much better in a P&R offense.

Even if it's not your preferred style, there are times when ball screens are very beneficial. There were teams that really struggled against high pick and rolls like UGA with Trey Thompkins and we didn't even attempt to exploit that.

Coach should always play to his players' strength, not try to do things the way he wants.

You do have a point with this. But a motion offense can be adapted no matter the personnel. That's why it's one of best offenses out there to run. Unfortunately coaches have had to adjust because of "laziness" from players.

I agree tho it is applicable to be open-minded as a coach. Your beliefs and style must change with the times or get left behind. Trust me I understand your angst towards Martin, but I think he is going to do good with ya'll. Just like I believe Rick Ray will end up being a good hire for MSU. They both come from the same mold.

If coaches don't adjust that is certainly on them. Regarding Thompkins and UGA.... Martin's assistant coaches should be noticing things like that mid game. So maybe he needs to do some shuffling.

Sorry for the a-hole-ness (long day)

No worries, but I was actually referring to Pearl and his flex offense.

Martin's offense incorporates the P&R. It's a pretty open offense.

My main issue with Martin is the level of player he has recruited and his staff.

I will say this about the recruiting thing... Martin may be recruiting players that fit his system. May not be the most talented, but they fit what Martin wants to do. Ray does the same here. It can be kind of frustrating but I think it will all work itself out.

Don't blame AAU ball for Rick Ray's suckitude.
