Sad for the guys family, friends and I hope he rest in peace but to get in a car that drunk you are almost asking to get in a wreck and probably serious one.

There are people that have been found to function at that level. However, as someone previously stated, he was probably carried to the car and placed inside. Unless the survivors talk, we'll never know.

.377 is pretty damn high. Could they have possibly been driving Lutz to a hospital?

The BAC published and made for all to see is exactly why I hope this goes away soon. it takes away from his overall character and sends a message that doesn't need to be sent.

No it doesn't.

Very good people will sometimes make very bad choices. It doesn't change who they are.

That's a staggering BAC. Hard to believe.

Scary, I've been very intoxicated and taken home by friends many times in the not so distant past. Glad the perfect storm that hit Lutz hasn't hit me. Like not being buckled in by friends and then been in a horrific wreck.

Very sad for Lutz and the Auburn family.

Lutz was very clearly a fine young man and nothing in this story changes that fact. We all make choices that can have serious consequences.

I'd like to think that lesson reinforced through a story like this one could serve as a warning to others. Without that BAC, maybe he puts on his seat belt or chooses not to ride with an intoxicated driver. Maybe today some kid reads the story and doesn't die tonight.
All of this. Look, I know I have done it, but getting so drunk you are completely unconscious is so much more dangerous then we realize. We feel invincible and sometimes it takes things like this to make kids realize they arent

I disagree that the circumstance is "embarrassing" or that this event is a mark on his character.

It may be that releasing this information makes those who are saddened by the loss of Lutz make better decisions in the future.

No need to shy away from reality. Just respond in an appropriate way. JMO

I had a fraternity brother in college be completely coherent and awake in the hospital after falling over drunk and being tested at .38.

Every person isn't the same in that a certain BAC puts them under. Probably many people who don't drink much go unconscious around .2 but some can be awake at .3+.

I was on vacation the week that this happened and this is literally the first that I've heard about it. I don't know....live under a rock I guess.

Anyway, this is tragic. My condolences to the Auburn family.

to get in a car that drunk

What the frick is going on here?

Lutz was clearly drunk off his arse, but he wasn't driving. Are people here really implying Lutz had some fault in this?

It was the driver's fault, or the friends' fault for letting him drive in such a condition. Why are we blaming people sitting in the back seat?

Some of you frickers just need to leave your RIP and move on.

The truth hurts more than it helps in this case, IMHO. this just needs to go away, fast.

Why are people offended by them posting his BAC? They obviously did not have a DD and did not have a plan of action. I've been in the hospital with a .39, poor decision making leads to bad things.

It's a sad event and my condolences go out to the Aubrun family and fans.

Just have a plan folks, whether its a DD or a cab.

Nothing embarassing about it at all.

Lessons leared, "don't drink and drive" and "don't ride with someone intoxicated"

Does nothing to diminish his character unless you or somebody else that is looking for that reason to do it.

You're certainly entitled to that opinion. I just don't understand the logic.

I disagree. I think it is unfair to blame the drivers when you get in the car with them. If I ever get into a car with a friend thats drunk I am taking that chance myself

I mostly agree. It was a tragedy and several people probably made poor decisions that led to it. Taking it as a lesson as opposed to looking to assign blame is a better path, IMO.
