You don't lose with the future if someone else gives you a chance to win. Franks has the arm but he's not a starting quarterback right now.

Champ almost played for a title at UF. His issues late in his time there could plausibly be blamed on Urbans lack of recruiting his final years. Recruiting classes tropically take 2-3 years bloom/fail. I am not sure why UF fans hate the guy so much. His D recruiting has held the program up the past few years.

Yes, it took a special kind of talent to score when the opposing team forgets to cover your receivers.

del Rio is mediocre. He's a college journeyman with a weak arm and no mobility.

If he can be a game manager, then great, he's a better option right now than Franks, but he's not going to be slinging it around the field. You'd hope that by year three you'd have an option at QB that isn't a strict game manager, but here we are.

They could also be blamed on the fact that he was starting Treon Harris at QB after having run off two that are currently starting in the NFL.

Not saying he was perfect. But he was on a better trajectory than Mac.

That's not what I said. I said he lit up the offense.

In three quarters, we had 0 third down conversions.

In one quarter, when he started, we had 5.

Franks had 40 yards earned on the night (45 more from a missed coverage assignment) through three quarters.

Del Rio had 74 in one.

We had 20 first downs the entire game.

9 of them came from Del Rio leading the offense in one quarter.

He manages the game well, performed well, and we won the game because of it. I don't understand why we can't say ''good job'' and move along.

I don't hate him but he's a terrible head coach and roster manager. Let's not even talk about offensive player recruiting.

He gave us our first losing season in decades and lost to GA Southern when they completed one forward pass.

Lost to Vandy for the first time in eons. There are so many reasons that he was terrible for UF, it's hard to just pick a few.

Glad he's gone. Wish him luck.

Mac is earning the same sentiment from me.

Vandy is undersized on D-Line just like kentucky. Just run overload with Tooney in the wildcat or run with Davis and it won't matter who the QB is.

If you let Mac call the plays with del Rio at QB, your offense will improve.

And it already has. At the end of the day though: Florida fans treat their quarterbacks like absolute dog shite. I liked Del Rio before the year started, and I was proven right that he is the best QB on our roster -- and he ain't half bad.

As for the Muschamp fiasco that everyone else is talking about:

When he took over the team, the last two years had been 21 - 4. When McElwain took over the team the last two years had been 11 - 14. We're lucky to have back to back 10 win seasons, no matter how bad the competition was.

Del Rio really "jump started" the offense by handing the ball off like a champ and throwing an Int. into double coverage. We will be lucky to go 6-5 with del rio.

Take your licks? They are in a crappy division and could still legitimately win that division. Is it likely? No, but it wasn't the past two seasons, either.

He should be, guy has a cannon for an arm against a team that chooses not defend his receivers in particular.

Willing to put something on that?

Gator to Gator ban bet. If Del Rio stays the starter and we go 6-5 or worse, I'll self ban for as long as you decide...if we get better, the terms reverse.

Whatcha say

I'd love for the majority of the negagators to take this bet.

He didn't light up the offense. He threw one awful interception across the middle. He missed Cleveland in the end zone throwing the ball well behind him. He got lucky on a diving catch by Powell and another big play by Powell who made 2 defenders miss. All he did was hand the ball off and throw it to a wide open WR for a TD. The one good play I'll credit him for was the 4th down conversion.

Franks played well for his first SEC road start as a freshman. He didn't have any turnovers and really didn't get any help from his WRs. He had a beautiful 50 yard throw to Cleveland that should of went for a TD but Cleveland lost it in the lights.

Mac has lost me with his management of Franks. He obviously doesn't know how to develop a QB and isn't interested in going through the growing pains of a freshman QB. Nuss and Del Rio will be the end of Mac.

He is exactly that. A game manager.

That is honestly all we need.

Mac has recruited a strong list of play makers, so all we need is a guy to toss it to them and let them do the rest. Really shouldn't be that hard with the talent on this team. Even without Scarlett and Robinson, it's loaded.

So I'm cool with Del Rio. He won't win a title, but he can manage the offense and beat anyone on our schedule(because they all suck sans Georgia, who likes to play horrible vs us). So see how it goes. Worst that happens is we suck, Nuss is fired, and hopefully Corral stays because that kid is a gem.

We lose to:

Texas A&M
UGA
FSU

and one of Vandy/USCe/LSU.

I'll sport your finest Del Rio sig pic and avatar if we have a better record than that.
