They talked about this the other day on the radio. It's not just tiger stadium, it's nation wide. Games are so accessible now. Look at the SEC, SEC has contracts with ESPN, CBS and they launched SEC network. People rather sit at home where they don't have to spend outrageous prices for tickets, food and drinks. You can watch from the comfort of your home and have the best view than anybody from the stadium or sidelines.

LSU's Pride and Joy Has Fallen. by Half Decent
It was never special to begin with and, frankly, neither was your football program. Bama has been coming in there for a century and whipping that Boudreaux arse. You guys have this strange delusion that you are some elite blue blood when really you've only been good for maybe 15 years in your entire program's history.

I agree. Tiger Stadium has a reputation as one of the best atmospheres in college football. That being said I think that fans vote with their feet. And if you start seeing a half empty stadium you'll know that something needs to be done.

Blame your head coach and quit your bitching.

Last year we were calling the hogs in the fourth quarter and there were virtually no LSWho fans left in the stadium. That is not supposed to happen in the other teams house anywhere.

I think LSU fans post-Saban have built in their own minds this storied history of Tiger Stadium. Truth be told, prior to Nick the average college football fan nationwide probably couldn't even tell you where Tiger Stadium was located. To be a premier (or as one of the Rantards - Draconian Sanctions - termed it, "one of the most storied venues in sports" ) home stadium, you can't let a conference foe come in and own you the way Bama has in that building. It's a good home crowd but far from the impossible place to play that Tiger fans like to self-congratulate themselves about.
For real stadiums that affected visiting teams, look at the Swamp in the 90s and Nebraska up through the early 2000s.

I can't argue with this tbh. When I go, I stay to the end, but many leave early. It is not like it used to be.

lol.
The stadium isn't storied because Bama has had success there?
Its known nationally as one of the best atmospheres. in sports. This was the case way before Nick Saban was the head coach at LSU

While you are correct this just doesn't seem right coming from a hurricane fan. You guys couldn't fill a stadium in the 80's much less now. Talk about a weak arse, front running, fan base! Also, could Miami get 35k fans to travel to Green Bay for a game? I don't think you can get 35k to travel to the Orange bowl for a game much less Green Bay!
So:

First, that's not the Orange Bowl.
Second, the Orange Bowl in the 80s and early 90s was a much tougher venue for visiting teams than Baton Rouge has ever been.

Didn't say it was the Orange bowl. I said they couldn't fill up the Orange bowl if they played there. I know it might be tough for you to understand the connection so just ask a friend.
Second, only because Miami was so good NOT because of the venue.

It is funny to read some of these Bama fans post.
Look at me look at me, can't have a thread without some Bama fan coming in and reminding everyone just how great their team is.....sad.
Also seems some JR Bama fans don't know shite about the history of SEC football and what makes the SEC the best in the county.

I'd like to see articles in national publications lauding Tiger Stadium as this great venue. LSU before Nick was no more relevant a program than the Colorados and Georgia Techs of the world. Arguably less so.

I'm believing more and more in HBC's theory of 10 yrs for any coach or AD.
The fans, players, media et al just get bored with status quo and 10 years is as long as 99% can be effective (unfortunately, Saban is in the 1%).
Time for some new blood. Imo, the SEC is better with an enthusiastic and optimistic LSU fanbase.

Proves my point. Few of those quotes are prior to Nick.
