While I agree our secondary will be weaker, it won't be by much. We've been spoiled in the secondary the last decade, and it doesn't appear to be slowing down. There will be a few growing pains will Our young DB's, but how much or little has yet to be seen. I think after the Washington game we will have a better idea. Price is pretty good and has a good core with Soph Kasen Williams and crew.

You think Simon will contend for the Thorpe award or the Bednarik? He is solid but the bar has been set so high that it is unattainable.

I think teams will have to throw to move the ball and thus your yards allowed passing may increase significantly. More teams will try to throw on first down.

You think people are going to choose to throw his way versus one of the freshman DBs?

Tharold Simon is a big drop off from Claiborne? Simon had more pass break ups and is much taller...Simon in the next dominate cornerback coming out of DBU...I promise..

Simon in 13 games had 10 passes broken up tying him for 55th in the country. That is hardly dominant. Hell, Amerson had more interceptions than that (13).

have to agree with others that you are underestimating simon. He has had solid playing time since he was a freshman(against JJ in'10 when not covered by pp7) and I can't recall him ever getting beat deep. In fact, every time they try to go deep he either picks it off or bats it away. Is he going to win the thorpe award? who knows. He will be a great corner though

Deal. To be honest, I think there are a number of corners in the conference rated ahead of Simon, including Banks at MSU and Milliner at UA.
Did Simon make any All-SEC teams?

The question becomes can the front 7 make up for the weaker (comparatively) secondary this year? Can Mingo and Montgomery apply enough pressure that even freshmen CBs can be successful?

That is A question but not THE question. The real question is can LSU's new found passing attack take pressure off the defense?

Dude..come on, be reasonable. He was behind two All-SEC corners and still played well in a backup role. This year, he will be our top corner. Everyone expects him to have a good year

yeah, so were the Ford/Ware vs. Richardson threads. Besides, Dre was high draft pick, and a shutdown corner at Bama, so those comparisons were not that ridiculous.

I expect he will have a good year also. But Mo Claiborne had a great year, like Darrelle Revis, and teams just simply didn't even look to throw his way.

I think Simon is a nice player and agree he is your best cover guy, but I think he will be a second or third rounder and I know he will not be the first DB picked in the draft. He isn't going to win the Thorpe either.

They weren't comparisons

Any small notion that Claiborne was even in the same class as Dre, let alone be drafted higher, and bama fans went apeshit.

Our linebackers will be much improved. Or should be.
