LSU would likely have to win 4 games against top 10 teams in 28 days.

GTFO.

Nah, I think they would in all honesty.

They'd get benefit of the doubt with a new coach. This isn't computers, it's people.

That being said, it will be extremely hard for LSU to get through Alabama/Florida/ATM without a loss. Then possibly playing Tennessee in the champ game.

Can't really argue with that.

That's not in writing.

Principles. The committee will select the teams using a process that distinguishes among otherwise comparable teams by considering:
Conference championships won,
Strength of schedule,
Head-to-head competition,
Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory), and,
Other relevant factors such as key injuries that may have affected a team’s performance during the season or likely will affect its postseason performance.

There is no question LSU jumps Bama.

I've read several times the playoff committee factors in being a conference champion heavily into their decision. If LSU wins out, I think they have more to worry about an undefeated Baylor or West Virginia taking that spot. Each of those teams is screwed with one loss though. Their schedules are much too weak.

The committee will also take into account that Bama played what turned out to be a weak USC team vs LSU barely losing to what's turned out to be a very strong Wisconsin team.

The committee would agree that 1 loss /= 2 losses

If LSU wins out, Auburn could still win the SEC.
Don't look past Auburn, they seem to be getting it together now and even when they suck they still play hard in the Iron Bowl.

And I won't jump the moon if I win Powerball.

Both moot points and about as likely to happen.
