Very honestly, how did you feel in 2007 when Houston Nutt was forced out?

ETA: That's for any Hog fan, not just oklahogjr

I was ecstatic, because I'd been wanting him gone since his 2nd season here. But what most people fail to realize is that Nutt wasn't fired for his record on the field.

Thank you for your honest answer. It is a very similar situation.
The big difference between Ark/Nutt and LSU/Miles, is that there were a number of off field issues with Nutt.

I am not aware of any thing Miles has done in that department. And of course Miles has had more success at LSU than Nutt at Arkansas. Of course, it is an easier program with some built in advantages over Arkansas.

Luckily LSU fans haven't resorted to such craziness (not saying there aren't some who would). I think our AD is a little more proactive than Frank Broyles was. The end of the Nutt era and what is probably the end of the Miles era have a lot in common. I honestly thought Arkansas fans would understand where we are coming from more than most. I remember all the people telling yall you should know your place and be happy back then, and you went out and got an upgrade. It just ended poorly

The craziness had more to do with off-the-field issues regarding Nutt. Broyles was once an extremely proactive AD, but he was slowly being pushed aside (btw, Broyles was forced to hire Nutt).

I do understand what LSU is going through. It's been a fairly common situation since we fired Nutt, imo. The difference is that we didn't fire Nutt for his record and his record wasn't nearly as good as Miles'. But I think our situations are actually quite different.

The thing is that LSU NEEDS to hit a home run if they fire Miles and that's not easy to do. I understand why LSU fans want him gone, and if you get the right coach, it could work out very well. But I just think it's very risky and keeping Miles a few more years would be the smart play.

Imagine the pressure your next head coach will feel to produce wins, knowing that you fired one of the best coaches of the past decade. Who's gonna want to set foot in that pressure cooker?
