From what I have seen, Hilliard is just a straight-up down hill runner. Is there any footage of him doing anything other than that?
He outran the Arkansas defense on a few option plays. He defintley has deceptive speed, but he's not as quick as Ford.

Watch out for Jeremy Hill who is built like Hilliard but has a little more burst.
"Unproven back!!!!"
Just kidding.
I'd say it is between Hilliard and Ford.

Ford has the measurable of a first round back but apparently not the chest is what i'm gathering.
I know he's strong and fast but i'm guessing the weight room strength doesn't translate to the football field? Maybe 11/5 has clouded my judgment but he's always look like the best back to me the times i've seen lsu play.

But he is supposed to be so strong
he's pretty strong, but that doesnt mean he runs hard, breaks tackles and fights for every yard he can get.

He likely said it to light a fire under Ford.

Blue is our most complete back. He and Hilliard will carry the load this year IMO.

The best back overall is blue. He can do everything. Ware is a good blocker/inside runner. Hilliard is a bowling ball that pushes the pile. Ford is a playmaker and I love watching him play. Magee is kind of a scat back but has good vision but isn't afraid to run inside. Hill is a power back but also has moves and can cut back. I really wish blue would start and we can plug in the others as needed. I'm surprised no one has transferred.

The thing about LSU RBs is that all of them bring something different to the table. But Les has come out and said he wants 2 RBs to distance themselves from the pack. I am 99% positive one of those RBs will be Ford, just because his speed and physical tool set it different from Ware/Hilliard. I think it will be Ford with Hilliard or Ware, and Alfred Blue will be the change of pace back. But, I expect to see all 4 of them get equal carries.
As for who is best, I really do not know. IMO, Hilliard has the highest ceiling to be great in both college and in the NFL, but hes so young anything can happen. I think Ford will be a better NFL back than he was in college. Im not very high on Ware. Average back IMO. Doesnt do anything great, but just solid all around. I really hope that Blue gets more carries this year. Hes good at running the ball, good at catching the ball, great special teams player, and has the best breakaway speed out of all the RBs except Ford.
I saw the opposite from Ware. IMO he was the guy that would wear the D down in the 1st half. As the season progressed, Ware started struggling significantly.

FTR, I know we aren't talking FBs, but JC Copeland is a beast.

Hilliard - best combination of power and speed
Ford - quickest RB on the team, absolute playmaker, liability in pass protection.
Ware - Solid at picking up short to medium yards. Seemed to do better in the 2nd half of games after Hilliard and Ford wore the defense out.
Blue - Excellent 3rd down back, hits the hole very quickly.
Hill and Magee - haven't played, but Hill is very highly recruited and should see immediate playing time.
So many guys contributing. Truly a stable of RBs.

Hilliard is more than that. He's got good vision too. Dude played against 8 and 9 man boxes for 4 years in high school. That will develop vision for you.

Ware - Designated starter; good bowl game against aTM 2 years back; hits hard and has the ability to get a few tough yards after contact; seemed a little slow in the 2nd half of last season and tries to make contact instead of finding the hole; lacks home run threat
Ford - good change of pace back to compliment ware; good size, vision, and speed; can burn you in space and makes a good outside threat; best homerun ability; not the best pass blocker and seems to go down easily on contact
Blue - saw limited action in mop up or as a change of pace back when Ford was in the "doghouse"; solid back with good speed and vision; showed flashes of talent with a few long runs up the middle; good all around back that doesn't do anything special, but does everything well
Hilliard - came in during the AU game while Ware was suspended and never looked back; big, strong, and fast; good vision, good speed, and the ability to roll over defenders; doesn't have homerun speed, but could possibly be one of LSU's best between the tackle backs to grind out those tough 3-4 yards; if he breaks through to the 2nd level his size will allow him to pick up extra yardage by busting through smaller DBs
Hill - completely unproven, but was considered by some to be even better than Hilliard coming out of HS; after seeing what Hilliard can do, if Hill really is better then he might be LSU's best back; way too early to tell, but I'll throw his name in the pot
Right now, I'd say that either Ford or Hilliard is LSU's best back. Ford has the best threat to take it to the house, but seems to go down too easily on first contact and isn't the best pass blocker. Hilliard is just a man amongst boys. He isn't going to set speed records, but he has enough agility and speed for his size to become a very good back. He can grind out those tough yards at the LOS and he can truck defenders if he makes it to the 2nd level. Right now, I'll give Hilliard the nod as LSU's best all around back with Ford being LSU's best homerun threat.
tl;dr
LSU's stable of RBs all do different things well; Hilliard is the best all around; Ford is best HR threat
