So, LSU 2015 at 7.2 ypc and Nebraska 95 at 7.0 ypc. Much closer than you pretend it is.

You have no idea what you're saying.

Not at all, Phillips was a mental case and is no where near the man LF is. He was not everything LF is

I would say Fournette is a better man. No doubt. Fournette appears to be a great guy. I'm happy for the fame he's gotten. He's earned it.

As a running back Lawrence Philips was every bit as good. He was just gifted, there's no two ways about it. In 1994 he ran for over 1800 yards. In an option offense with multiple backs sharing carries, plus a QB that carries it, that's phenomenal. Like Fournette he was a Heisman frontrunner.
When 1995 began he was getting over 11 ypc at the beginning of the season. Despite his legal problems and I think maybe an injury as well during the 1995 season, he average 7.7 ypc, and Nebraska played a far tougher schedule than LSU's thus far. Not LSU's fault that Auburn chose to play flag football this year, but the quality of opposition has been very low.

If you want perspective on how good he was, after two or three games in 1995 he got arrested for attacking his girlfriend. Osborne got hammered in the media for not outright dismissing him, and even stormed out of a press conference when confronted about it. Osborne had Ahman Green to put in Philips spot and Philips played sparingly after Osborne broke him out of jail. But, when the national title game came and it was time to play UF, Osborne named Philips the starter.

What people don't remember from the 95 Fiesta Bowl was that most of UF's defensive front was injured but that was not widely publicized. Osborne knew he couldn't hang with UF in a track meet so he had to bring Philips in, despite having future NFL'er Ahman Green. After the 1st quarter UF was winning that game and the only thing stopping UF was UF, with penalties. When UF would pass you couldn't hardly see a Nebraska DB, they couldn't cover UF's receivers with a blanket. So they started bringing tons of pressure. Their DC said after the game he knew he'd have to do that. Once that started, UF's offense bogged down and the defense wore down and it was an epic route. But Philips was a beast in that game.

If Fournette is above 6 ypc by the end of the year I'll be shocked. LSU has six games left and in 5 of those games, they'll see a defense better than any of those seen thus far. If he can average 125 ypg in those six games then I'm sure the Heisman is his especially if he comes through in a big game, particularly late in the season.

I keep hearing about all these defenses but LSU Oline is one of the best we have had in a long time. You wont be shocked after Saturday about how good Fournette really is but what will shock you is how good our OLine is

Our OLine probably isn't as good as the 1995 Nebraska team but Fournette and Guice are every bit as good as the Nebraska backfield

Um... I'll give you Fournette and Guice matching Green and Phillips (though Phillips didn't play like half the year due to something an FSU RB wouldn't miss a snap for) -- but Nebraska had a third guy that LSU doesn't really have anyone close to in Tommy Frazier- arguably the most successful QB of the last 40 years and certainly the greatest QB who is forgotten- 2 National titles (lost a 3rd on a missed FG-- seriously back to back to back title games as the starting QB) -- probably the best option style QB ever.

And still won't after Saturday.

I'd say this is round 1, but LSU wont make it to Atlanta so that's kind of pointless.

Backfield is behind the line of scrimmages- you know the backs-- what does the "B" in "QB" stand for?

I am old school when QB's were not considered part of the backfield. Hell they barely had pass plays
