It concerns me how ole miss knew about some our plays based on watching film and totally blew them up...that reverse to chark comes to mind...we need to do something different from those formations because if OM caught that stuff on tape, you know Bama will to...

Too smarting, you say?
The main difference is that if a defense stacks the box we're passing. That forces the safeties back, then we gash them. Bama is very good at stopping folks from running without stacking the box, so we'll see how that works.

Holy Cow, I'm guessing you're a defensive player?

Have there been any noticeable changes in the actual playcalling or just better execution?
Someone checked the rulebook and found the TE was, indeed, an eligible receiver.

We haven't changed the playbook or the balance of run-pass plays. What we've done is taken steps to be less obvious. That involves two changes:
1. Running when you think we're going to pass and passing when you think we're going to run (really high level strategy, I know, but Les didn't do this toward the end).
2. Mixing up the formations within personnel groupings (so you can't tell which play we're running by the personnel we break the huddle with).
These two *very* basic changes, plus somewhat competent QB play, have really opened up the offense because teams can't tee off on the run anymore.

Our defense doesn't mind being on the field. They usually thrive in the second half. The difference is when the defense knows that they won't have to literally win us the game by scoring on par with our offense, their attitudes are better and they just go out and do their jobs.

I'm all for LSU being back. The best games, during the 2008-2012 stretch, were Alabama vs LSU. Yeah, it meant more heartburn, and we lost some, but they were much more interesting games. The 2011 Game of the Century and the screen pass to Yeldon in 2012 for the comeback are two amazing games.

^^^This. The emergence of DJ Chark has been absolutely incredible to watch. The fact he was sitting the bench never seeing the field when Miles was here should tell you everything.

As a LSU fan, I'm seeing run/pass option plays for the first time in over a decade. It's only one of the minor tweaks that has made a huge difference.

They will not move the ball on us. Our defense is too smarting for them. But they are better with Miles gone! Top 15!
not if you play defense
edit: I now see how unoriginal my comment is

To me, it seems the biggest change, besides more energy and generally better execution, is the offensive philosophy. Under Miles, it was "Here's what we are gonna do, try and stop us", which works when you vastly out talent the other team. It's changed to be more modern where it looks to exploit match ups, get the defense off balance early, and then impose your will later in the game.

I see a significant difference in LF. Against Wisconsin, for example, he ran like a wuss more interested in his future in the NFL than like an SEC RB. Now that he has decided not to be a wuss, LSU looks pretty good. Still resent him for not trying hard against the BIG10.
