LSU fan: Would you trade Miles for any other coach in the SEC besides Saban?

I understand your feelings on Miles v. Saban, but are there any other coaches that you would rather?

Spurrier? Sumlin?

definitely not sumlin, still not sold on him honestly. we'll see how he does post manziel and whether he can sustain success over the long haul. if we're talking spurrier 10-15 years ago, then yes very possibly, but a near 70 year old spurrier, nah no thanks.

Nope. As of 2013, Spurrier(0-3) & Sumlin(0-2) have shown they can't beat Miles

I do like Spurrier a lot though

Probably wouldn't take Saban over Miles either.

he'd probably need to be about 10 years younger for me to change my mind.

no...and i wouldn't trade him for Saban either

until Sumlin proves he can field a defense he'll be considered extremely mediocre

Interesting. So right around the time when both Miles and Spurrier were hired by their respective schools? I guess if you could go back in time you'd switch the hirings.

the guy has been a head coach all of 6 seasons. pardon me for wanting to see if he can sustain success, or actually win something of significance, before crowning him as one of the nation's best. he's still yet to finish a season with anything comparable to the coach lsu presently has, and he's had the luxury of having one of the best players in the country the past two

i'd certainly consider it yes in retrospect. and at the time if i had the choice i would have chosen spurrier for sure. its worked out ok for lsu though.

I believe Spurrier was a candidate for the LSU job in the early 2000's iirc.

You have to go back a few more years- supposedly he was not interviewed when LSU hired Archer to replace Arnsbarger, although he reportedly wanted the job.

There was no vacancy in the early 2000s since Saban was hired for the 2000 season.

Honestly would only take Saban over him. There are other great coaches but Miles and Saban are the best fit for LSU.
