Sunseri and Perry are not fast enough to cover against a guy who throws a rope like Mett.

They didn't seem to have much of a problem against Bray and he had the best arm out of all the QBs we have played, Mettenberger included.

They sky is not falling. Settle down.

Saban's defense has a gap behind the CBs and in front of the safeties. Also your OLBs can be exposed in coverage on a quick RB. It takes a big armed QB who is very accurate to exploit this weakness.

Bama may have to consider as a fix to play Fulton as third corner, or play Landon Collins (has CB speed).

Please o please play them. Ryan Swope and Mike Evans will have 200 yards receiving each.

Just stop. You will not have a reciever come close to 200 yds. It's just going to happen and you will not have the success that LSU had against us. Our D is built to stop your type of offense and it will.. You A & M fans sound like the MSU fans before the Bama game and will after the game. A&M is having a nice season enjoy it for what it is but you will not come close to beating this Bama team in T-Town.

Well that can't be a surprise to anyone. We all knew that we'd take a hit this year but I was surprised it would be by LSU. I still say Mett played lights out and had the best performance by a LSU QB since Saban was their coach.

Again, the pass rush is a bigger issue than the secondary. They don't have anybody who can apply constant pressure on the QB. Who is Bama's version of Sam Montgomery, Barkevious Mingo, Jarvis Jones, Jadaveon Clowney? They don't have anyone like that and it hurts them against teams with great offensive lines that can pick up the blitz.

This. We have no Upshaw this year. Instead of turning a beast loose who requires constant attention and double team we have to disguise blitzes. These were slow developing last night plus Mett did not panic and made great choices on hot reads. Being unable to get off of the field on third (blitzing) downs almost got us last night. I'm not panicking. It was a hot QB and some great second half catches.

LSU took the lead with 12:58 to go in 4th QTR. 4th QTR Ernie.

Don't overlook how well Mettenberger played. He made some major league throws last night. Even under pressure on blitz, he stepped in to his throws. He was so confident. I was very impressed. The LSU wide receivers really stepped up too.

They don't exactly have a cannon like Mett does. Better QBs? Maybe, but they don't have a better arm.

LSU exposed Bama's weaker secondary

Honestly, that isn't the worst thing for bama out of this week. The worst part is Bama doesn't look unbeatable anymore.
I think the intimidating factor has played a huge part for them this season. Think the rest of the season will be interesting.

Which was weaker last night? Bama's secondary or Les' brain?

I've been watching the replay and, while there were break downs in coverage here and there, the coverage was there for the most part. The throws Mett made were just ungodly. Most of the breakdowns occurred when we brought pressure. We always seemed to get to the QB a step too late. Because of that, the reduced amount of man power in the secondary would cost us.

We're not going to blitz ole' Johnny Football near as much as we blitzed Mettenberger so that shouldn't be as much of a problem.

I really don't think your secondary is weak. Despite our receivers' lack of ideal size, and at times hands and concentration, they've typically run pretty good routes. They were out to prove something last night and they did against the best D in the country. I would be very surprised if any team on the remainder of your schedule is able to do what LSU did last night solely because a balanced offense is the only way to play a defense like Bama's.

^^^^this^^^^^

One thing I think most people are realizing is this is the first time this year Bama couldn't stop the run game with it's base defense and had to make adjustments - got Bama out of their usual defense packages and I think the biggest reason they seemed off - maybe because it was the first time they were out of their comfort zone. It had a profound effect on the defense. Also, when blitzing, Bama tends to have the DB's keep everything in front of them, willing to give up the catch, but not the big play. There was a lot of that last night as the blitz was mostly ineffective.

Like others have said, many times the DB's were in position - not all the time, but mostly. They also never gave up the deep ball - i'm not totally convinced part of the game may have been to bend but not break once they realized Mett was having the game of his career....

When are we (the SEC rant, the world, etc.) going to finally stop overrating Mingo? He has 3 whole sacks this year and has yet to do shite against the turnstile that is DJ Fluker (and DJ has kind of sucked this year). Our pass blocking was legit Saturday.

We could use better pass rushers fwiw.
