You also have to consider the play of Mett and the WRs.
He played a lights out game and was throwing pinpoint passes, and the LSU WRs were on their game.
That last TD they had was a tremendous catch, regardless of coverage

Again, the pass rush is a bigger issue than the secondary. They don't have anybody who can apply constant pressure on the QB. Who is Bama's version of Sam Montgomery, Barkevious Mingo, Jarvis Jones, Jadaveon Clowney?

LSU has 24 sacks this season, with 2 first round picks at DE.

Sam Montgomery has 5 sacks.

Adrian Hubbard has 4 sacks. Alabama as a team has 23 sacks.

In last night's game, LSU had 1 sack (Montgomery.)
Bama had three sacks.

The LSU pass rush, like night games in Tiger Stadium, is mostly a myth.

Most of the breakdowns occurred when we brought pressure. We always seemed to get to the QB a step too late. Because of that, the reduced amount of man power in the secondary would cost us.

I didn't see a replay but this was my impression watching the game.
It seemed less the coverage and more that the safety/CB blitz es were consistently a second late. Mett was great in making the right decisions and throwing extremely accurately but the coverage seemed good enough usually if he had been forced to throw the ball a split second earlier.

We're not going to blitz ole' Johnny Football near as much as we blitzed Mettenberger so that shouldn't be as much of a problem.

Yeah, the defense will be a lot different for A&M but UGA being able to do the same thing Mett did should be a concern.

That's how I saw it too. I thought Belue had a pretty bad game, but more than anything it was the fact that we brought pressure that didn't get there.

I was screaming at the TV for Bama to stop the fricking blitzing because LSU picked it up every single time.
