We all know the difference, he was diagnosed with a fracture and a 4-6 week recovery. That would refer to the recovery of a hairline or non-displaced fracture. A break, or displaced fracture would be an 8 week + recovery depending on surgery and ligament damage.

Seems like there has been alot more Injuries this year. But a broken fibula and hes only out 4-6 weeks?

Moffitt has our boys drinking gallons of water to speed recovery time. It did wonders for Mett's ACL rehab

Fracture, to me, implies that its not a "full" break

a fracture is a break. it's either broken, or it's not.

there are types of fractures. hairline... complete... etc

no ones on this board knows what he was diagnosed with. his mom is still saying it's a sprain and he's only missing two games.

You are crawfishing like a motherfricker, but won't admit you were just wrong. You made a snarky comment out of ignorance, just own it.

A fracture and a broken bone are the same thing!

True. I broke my arm when I was young, and the ER doctor told me "your arm is fractured." I was disappointed initially, because I was anticipating much cast-related sympathy from the girls and feared I would get no cast because my arm was "only" fractured. The doc said "relax, fractured means broken." So I got a cast but not nearly enough sympathy to make the pain worth it.

The preliminary audit involving 50 new patients attending our fracture clinic showed that 84% thought there was a difference between a ‘fracture’ and a ‘break’, with 68% believing a ‘break’ to be worse than a ‘fracture’. Following the introduction of an information leaflet, a re-audit of 61 new patients took place. This time 67% felt there was a difference between a ‘fracture’ and a ‘break’, with 65% believing a ‘break’ to be worse than a ‘fracture’. Only 21% had read the supplied information leaflet, and 69% of those still believed there was a difference between a ‘fracture’ and a ‘break’.

funny study. most people think fractures and broken bones are TOTALLY different...sigh

there literally is no difference between a "break" and a "fracture". to say otherwise is complete nonsense.

It's hilarious isn't it...Now the word is that it is not a break and he will be out 2 weeks. LOL. The one thing for certain, no on on this board knows...

i assumed they were different. At least in severity. Then again i'm not in the medical field so I'm not really ashamed i was ignorant to the fact they mean the same thing.

most non-medical people do. doctors just have to do a better job of educating their patients.

a-hole. There was an A&M fan saying he should be out 8-10 weeks because of a break not 4 to 6 and I was stating a there are different degrees. STFU.
