Actually, many people have said this, and they weren't wrong.

What everyone is laughing at you for is you think you've won something by "stealing" a coach with clear deficiencies. For nearly his entire entire tenure at LSU his defenses struggled at the LB spot. Guess what position he coaches?

He also had some huge mental gaffes that cost us more than our share of close games, especially lately.

I can't blame the Ags for being optimistic about Chavis. There hasn't been a defense in College Station since before most of you hit puberty. But you also can't blame LSU fans for being optimistic about a new (hopefully more aggressive) DC who can actually coach LBs AND a great recruiter/DL coach in Ed O.
Logic has no place on this message board.

Everyone said he wasn't a good recruiter. He was terribly lazy.

Fine, but he was surrounded by recruiters who brought in top-tier talent. The point is he benefited from great players.

Typically good players around the QB make them look better than they are. If they couldn't do that last year I don't know what you expect to be different this year

Year 3 of the Aggie off-season message board shite talking victory streak, heading into year 5 of LSU's football domination on the field.

2010- losing in Texas hurt for yall, I know, I was there.
2012- Losing in Texas hurt again, but hey, he got a heisman right?
2013- heisman worthy performance.
2014- put him on the hood Leonard. And Jennings ran for over 100? Damn.
2015- aw man we took their coach! We can shite talk em so good now!

Every year y'all take over the off-season and migrate off board after your loss. LSU is all you psychos care about and it's really starting to worry me.

Depends on how we lose. If Chavis holds LSU to 240 yards and 14-17 points but our offense turns it over four times then you cant really say he didnt do what we hired him to do.

Yeah all those LSU receivers and RBs in the NFL sure did make Lee and Jefferson look like studs.

We had 2 true freshman WRs and 2 true freshman RBs to go along with limited experienced sophomore QB and a true freshman QB. I don't know how any of them will possibly get any better either.

When did this become about the offense?

But to your point, you'll be hard pressed to find anyone anywhere that would defend Jennings' QB play last year. The kid was/is bad. Harris has more talent. We'll see how he does this year.

However, since 2008 Les has been notoriously protective of his QBs. The offense shrinks to nothing when QBs struggle because he tries (too hard) to protect them. Thus it's difficult for a QB to make skill position players shine with one-receiver routes and 35 rushing plays per game.

All that said, if you don't think LF is a special running back, I'm going to pretend you don't exist because your opinion is meaningless.

So the offensive players can improve at LSU, but on defense the players were just finished products when they showed up, and the coaching had no impact on how good they were?

Why didn't Harris start last year?

It absolutely does. Thank God LSU kept most of it's staff intact and actually upgraded in the two areas that have been lacking. Linebackers and Defensive Line. Steele may be a downgrade at DC but he's definitely an upgrade as a LB coach.

Meanwhile, aTm kept all the same coaches that have been putting a shite product on the field and brought in a good DC who is an average LB coach.

Good luck with that.

For all our sakes, please don't turn this into a Jennings/Harris thread

So you think the position coaches are more important than the coordinator? Interesting

This post gets right to the heart of what the issue is. You said "if he holds LSU..."
You're not talking about averages. You're not talking about SEC wins. IF he holds LSU, the offensive juggernaut, to 14-17 points, the hire is a home run.

Think real hard on that.

The highlight of the LSU defense since Chavis got here has been the secondary and d-line. He coaches neither. He was responsible for LBs and it's been our weakest unit his entire time at LSU.

Last two pages have been like this quote...bargaining like a mofo. This entire thread has seen you all go through the first three stages. It's pretty awesome.

As defensive coordinator he technically coaches all of them though
