Wait until fall when A&M has to watch the post Manziel experiment. Ought to be entertaining.

They need to do something. When you lose more than 2x the number of underclassmen as the next team, in a conference that breeds NFL talent, you are doing something extremely wrong.

I don't think it's a locker room problem at all. LSU has some elite guys start playing early. LSU will play a ton of freshman this year. Over the last 5 years, LSU has played more freshman than any other team in the country. After 3 years of actually contributing at the NCAA level, you are probably ready to move on.

Some of the guys who declared last year knew they were gonna be buried in the depth chart and obviously didn't care enough to get their diploma. There are plenty of reasons why someone would leave early and test the NFL waters, but I don't think the reason is in the locker room, unless you count younger players taking their spots.

7 players is 15% more.

That is a big difference if you understand basic math.

However, you are a bama fan so I should cut you some slack with that area. You probably think your football team has 15 national championships too.

Locker Room Problem at LSU?

When thinking about the NFL draft and the rate at which underclassmen are now declaring,it got me thinking which SEC schools have lost the most underclassmen talent to the NFL over the last 2 draft class.

LSU - 17
Florida - 8
Alabama - 7
Tennessee - 5
A&M - 4
Georgia - 3
Auburn - 3
Missouri - 3
Arkansas - 2

I knew LSU had lost a lot of players, but I didn't imagine it would be twice as much as the next team. I know LSU has and will continue to have talent, but the margin isn't that large. Alabama has just as many talented young players, but they see to make the choice to stay in school.

So the question is, are these kids being smart and getting paid while they can, or is there a locker room issue at LSU that's causing these kids to leave?

And what about the previous 6 draft classes under Miles ????????????????????????????????

Wrong? Like what? Developing players too early? I'm sorry your coach sucks at it.

It's always amusing to hear the idiotic rationale from people who swear this somehow casts a negative light on our program.

I bet the numbers would look a little different since 2007. Probably about even. I'm sure one of you nerds care enough to look it up.

no it's being afraid of getting hurt as well as the new pay slot structure. players don't benefit from staying their senior year as much as they used to. your big payday generally comes on that 2nd contract, so why not start that clock sooner?

"Saban coached players" were no longer Saban coached players the day Saban left for Miami. Do you know how ignorant your comment sounds or are you just trying to get a bite?

then you're gonna need to remove pretty much any alabama player drafted prior to 2010. that cool with you?

Just my thoughts:

1. LSU has played a lot of freshman over the last 5 or so years. Generally if they're good enough to get significant PT that early, then they're good enough to leave college early.

2. I would imagine that the large majority of HS kids who go on to play at all SEC schools think they are going to be in the NFL in 3 years. I think the coaching staff at LSU kind of embraces that thought process rather than cautioning against it by basically telling the HS recruits from the outset that if their plan is to turn pro after 3 years, then the staff isn't going to push to persuade them not to. It probably leads to some guys leaving early who would be better off staying in college, but I think it also helps bring in the elite players. The mindset is that the coaches want the players to be good enough to leave early

WTF does that even mean ???? Many of the "Saban-coached" players that Miles started coaching in 2005 NEVER GOT OFF THE BENCH under Saban.

For a coach to come in cold and coach players he had never even MET, much less recruited, and lead them through the Katrina on-campus triage, and TWELVE CONSECTUTUVE GAMES without a bye week, and lead them to the SECCG is pretty fricking impressive....

agreed. i'll make the argument simple. saban and miles put more players in the nfl than anyone else. it's ignorant and stupid to say either one of them doesn't develop nfl talent at an alarming rate

LSU also has graduated a larger % of their football players in the last few years than any other SEC team except Vanderbilt.
