If A&M was so great, then why did it's high school choose the name Tigers as mascot?

A&M doesn't own the high school, you idiot

And "Tigers" is one of the most generic mascot names in Americana. There are three of 'em in the SEC alone

The difference between the Aggies and the longhorn songs is this:

The longhorn song was a public song stolen in typical Longhorn fashion for use by their school.

The Texas Aggie War Hymn was written by an Aggie Marine on the front lines in France during World War 1. "Hullabaloo" was the code they passed on meaning "Germans coming".

Caneck, caneck was the sound of the Marines readying their weapons.

The author of the Aggie War Hymn made fun in his song of the fact that the longhorns stole the song they use.

No it was the school for the professors' children and was on the campus until the 50s when all of the little communities around CS got together and Consolidated with the A&M High School...hence A&M Consolidated HS. It's not on campus anymore because both the university and high school were growing and the HS needed it's own campus.

Yeah, yeah, thanks for the history lesson. Not necessary. My dad's a Bryan Viking. frick Consol

ETA: None of that has anything to do with "Tigers" being the mascot name, either. You milksop

An Aggie wrote our song. The longhorns stole theirs.

In all honesty, I don't see too many instances of what I'd call LBS.

I do, however, see fans from Alabama, Texas, etc., trying to convince themselves that another school has LBS. If they think someone is jealous, it makes them feel important.

Is that supposed to make us mad?

Texas would have a huge lead over like 99% of all of college football.

TAMU is great at disappearing once their team is revealed to be a mediocrity on the field yet again. Only about a month until that time. We shall endure the insufferable Aggie posters until then.

Need I remind you that Little Brother is a multi-year "September National Champion"? They have had some of the finest Septembers in recent college football history. Little Brother is just at a disadvantage as the regular season unfairly extends into October and November. That's WAY past Lil Bro's bedtime.

The Lsu fans (especially from Texas) want so badly to have something in common with the horns (besides the fact that Austin is a funky/weird/hip city, and Lsu grads went to school an hour from one) that they have convinced themselves that they hate/obsess over the ags as much as the horns do.

They've taken to reading the horn message boards and reciting their talking points as some kind of truth that they, themselves, are proud of. A "dick ride" if you will.

This is, of course, despite the fact that the horns view themselves as a level (or three) above Lsu.

The whole thing is pretty sad.
