LSU went 10-2 in 2013
LSU lost 2 SEC games in 2012, 3 SEC games in 2013 and 4 in 2014 - - that was a downward trend in the 3 years following the 2011 undefeated regular season.

Looks like this is LSU's year though. All the talent in the world, coupled with excellent coaching and great player production. There's really no excuse for LSU to lose a game.

I agree that tDecline appears to not be real this year, but I want to see how LSU reacts to Bama before I commit. So far, the only team worthy of note that LSU beat is Florida. Going into BDS agaist the best team they have faced...by far...will tell us more about tDecline. LSU could lose the next three games.

The problem with the whole tDecline theory is that LSU's recruiting class this year is going to be ungodly. The Front 7 we will have in about two years is going to be on par with Bama's this year. We are also loaded at OL. The other, probably more important, aspect is that QB has been our problem. Harris will likely come back for his senior year, so he has 2 more years, and we have a very solid QB commit right now. My only concern is whether or not Steele can get the secondary issues right. He has one of the most talented DB groups in the country, just needs to figure out a way to minimize their mistakes.

Oh. So, Bama is in decline. I think I'm starting to understand this concept now.

Miles is not a GOAT-tier coach, and there are a number of coaches who would excel at LSU nowadays. Too much recruiting firepower and financial backing to not consider LSU an elite program going forward.

OK. So Michigan fans are justified in calling Alabama historically mediocre too. Guess it's all relative.

Admitting that LSU has an elite football program would mean that Bama no longer stands alone at the top of the SEC, something Bama fans just can't stomach. While pathetic, it's also sort of cute.

What if Alabama wins? They would be in the driver's seat, right?

yes, they'd be in line for the SECCG.

Actually we wouldn't be...if we win in 2 weeks, we still have to hope for an Ole Miss loss as they hold the head-to-head tie-breaker over us...

IDK? 2010 Bama went 10-3, since '10 they've won from 11-13 games a year and a couple of SEC & NC's in that span.

This is something you just made up. LSU is elite, everyone says that. You are way too wound up about Bama fans. Come back to reality.

This makes no sense like most of your posts. You can say you want to wait on that game to see if LSU will seriously contend for a NC this season; But a “decline” is not a one game thing, it is a tendency over time of a top notch program (not an A&M type) and reasonable expectations about the future.

Once top notch programs like Miami, Nebraska, Texas, maybe USCw you can say are in decline. LSU enters November undefeated, in the Top 5, with a young team and the #1 recruiting class waiting in February. Only a moron would say that is a sign of decline even if they don't win against Bama.

Again good thing you'll never have to worry about A&M declining because your program is perennially mediocre and you don't understand the concept.

More successful than every team since he's been in the league except Bama and arguably Florida b/c of the 2 nattys to his 1 title and a championship game appearance.

Look, I don't think many LSU fans would dispute that Saban and Meyer are two of the best ever. Miles coached in a league with those guys and won national and SEC championships. He's 3-3 against Meyer and 3-5 against Saban. Don't want to go on a tangent but after the 2012 and 2014 games that series could easily be tied or better.

The coach with the most wins in LSU history happened to lead LSU at the same time the Bear was at Alabama and could not accomplish what Miles has while having to play two guys with bear-like credentials every year. Saban's great. But, man, guys like Miles don't grow on trees either.

I agree. While he came into a good situation at LSU, he embraced it, put his stamp on it, and made it his own...a lot of other coaches have inherited similar, or even better, situations and not done nearly as well...the SEC is much better with Les Miles in it...

While Michigan has more total wins than anyone, they also have more losses than anyone in the top 6, other than Texas...

Even including our vacated/forfeited wins, Michigan still has more wins than us...but like I said above, they have more losses as well. They've played close to 50 more games than we have...

As far as wins on the field, there are 10 teams that have 800+ wins. In order, it's Michigan (914), Notre Dame (882), Texas (881), Bama (879), Ohio State (875), Nebraska (872), Oklahoma (850), Penn State (849), USC (819), and Tennessee (809)...those totals are prior to this season...
