50 games as a top 5 team in his 10+ seasons is pretty incredible. That's an average of 5 per season. Strong.

Curiosity got me wondering how many Saban had coached as a top 5 team while at Bama in his 8+ years. 89 games as a top 5 team. 11 games in 2008, all 14 in 2009, 6 in 2010, all 14 in 2011, all 14 in 2012, all 14 in 2013, 13 in 2014, and 3 so far in 2015.

LSU isn't in a decline.

The decline started 1450 days ago after you last beat Alabama.

Now you've begun to accept mediocrity. That's why you won't bee too upset after you lose a couple games in November again.

This has nothing to do with the decline. Yeah, historically, LSU used to be mediocre, now they're really good. Everyone already knew that.

Now that you've proven you've INCLINED from your historical position, will the decline come?

Oh for frick's sake, you've got to...

Wrong. I will be very upset if LSU loses to Alabama because LSU is better this year. I don't get upset when losing to Alabama when Alabama is clearly the better team.

Saban is....somethin' else. You can add in his 7 at LSU, too. Crazy.

You didn't get the memo about this being our revenge tour? I thought State and AU would have passed it your way by now. Oh, be sure to pass it forward to arky after we whoop that arse Nov 7.

with Spurrier gone, Les is the 2nd best coach in the sec. I don't think that can even be argued.

I think Les is a better coach than Sprurrier right now any way. Spurrier at his peak was something else, but Spurrier at USCe never showed he was a better coach than Miles to me.

if bama loses to LSU this year, the meltdown on this board will be...

nonexistent....because bama fans will disappear for a week.

I mean we're 16th in the Nation in all time wins through September 15th of this year (Bama tied at 7th). I guess you can say that's "mediocre" if you want.

Actually you wouldn't know that since you were not a member of this board the last time Bama lost to LSU.

Bama only played 13 games in '11 and '13...and I could be wrong, but I don't think we were in the top 5 every week last year...think we dropped to 7 or 8 after the loss to Ole Miss for a couple of weeks or so...

OK. So Michigan fans are justified in calling Alabama historically mediocre too. Guess it's all relative.

That wouldn't make any sense. There's more than one metric than just gross wins. Michigan is not considered a greater program historically by any reputable source.

They are historically elite, like us and OU and USC, Notre Dame etc

Then you've got the next tier - Penn State, Nebraska, Miami, FSU, Florida. They've won titles and a lot of games, but not sustained over decades. Some Johnny cone latelys.

The third tier includes places like Clemson, GTech, BYU,

Where does LSU fit in all this? I think they've moved from tier 3 to tier 2.

Why do LSU fans need constant validation?

My stance on “tDecline” when it was brought around 2012: For the term to even apply you need to have put together an impressive Championship top level run of several years. When teams like Ole Miss, A&M or Arkansas look like crap, like they do at times most seasons, they wish it was a “decline”, but is not; it is par for the course; it is who they are and will always be: perennial pretenders with no accomplishments of note.

Now maybe Saban is the only exception, we'll see, but every elite program has their ups and downs. The downs being 7-9 win seasons ocasionally, solid double digits most of the others. Sure every 10-15 years a team like Ole Miss may have one Top 10 type season by lucking out or backing up to a once in a lifetime player; but cero chance of having a 10 year consistent run.

Meyer is a heck of a coach and he declined at Florida, but would have likely turned it around had he not chickened out, or someone else would sooner than later like their current coach seems to be on the way to accomplish; same goes for FSU, Ohio State, LSU and a few other Championship winning programs. These are proven commodities that you know it is in them.

Now turns out LSU wasn't declining. This is a young team and Miles best recruiting class may be the one he'll sing in 2016. Let that sink in for a moment. “tDecline” was more wishful thinking from the perennial pretenders than anything related to reality.

So the silver lining for pretenders like A&M… you will all die and never see a “decline”. You won’t ever qualify for one.

I think you're confused. This is a laugh at the people who said LSU was in decline thread. I do not require validation, I'm just a fan.
