Hypothetical, what if the next five years of saban's tenure = the previous 5 of Miles, what would bama fans reaction be?

That's not even debatable, but there is also far less interest in Les over here than in the Rant.

We will thank him for his efforts and clap for him when he comes back to be recognized with his National Championship team.

Read every bit of it. Thank you. There are some pretty interesting stats in there.

2017 - 11-2
2018 - 13-1
2019 - 10-3
2020 - 10-3
2021 - 8-5

I think we'd probably be getting restless at the end of an 8-5 season for sure. I definitely don't think we'd be considering finding a replacement for him. At that point we would have had 12 consecutive 10 win seasons. Not bad.

I think it's going to be very interesting to see how bama's fanbase reacts the next time yall have a "down" year. Hell, the only down season you've had since 08 was 10-3. I'm curious to see what happens the next time bama goes 8-5 or something.

I don't think anyone will disagree that expecting more than what Les Miles has accomplished at this juncture is completely unreasonable. Just like UT fans expecting more than what they got from Phil Fulmer, and Auburn fans expecting more than what they got from Tuberville.

It's a dangerous, slippery slope - and I think Saban has been the reason for all the pressure.

Auburn is on their 3rd coach - soon to be 4th if Gus doesn't fix shite.

Tennessee is on their 3rd coach.

Ole Miss is on their 3rd coach.

It's just unreasonable and unrealistic to expect Saban type results - especially when having to play against him and recruit against him every year.

We'll be melting and it will be glorious for the rest of the SEC. But the majority of our fans won't be asking for Saban's head.

One positive that will come out of it will be that the fans will finally be able to enjoy wins again - instead of just being relieved we didn't lose.

I bet Bama fans would feel differently if Saban failed year after year to develop a quarterback sufficiently.

Mettenberger aside (who came to us somewhat trained up by UGA), LSU has been noticeably awful at developing QBs since Jimbo Fisher (a Saban hire) moved on.

It's not just LSU fans noticing these things. We hear it over and over again in the national media and from the yokels broadcasting our games.

The main knock on Kiffin is that he takes unnecessary chances but he has actually been doing a fantastic job of calling the game lately.

Maybe we're wrong. Maybe Cam and Crowton were/are terrific at QB development.

But I'm not seeing it and I've been (for most of the last 10 years) a Miles supporter.

I give him one more year.

I don't disagree with that at all. I do think it has more to do with play calling than QB development at practice. It doesn't seem like LSU's playcalling has allowed for their QBs to find a rhythm - especially this year in big games.

Part of that I think has to do with Les' personal affinity for a ground and pound run game and having a stable of high quality backs every year.

I'm not sure anyone has an answer for that, but I do think the criticism is warranted in that area.

Saban had his struggles in Baton Rouge (plenty of bad losses) as well but he exuded enough confidence and delivered enough things that don't show up in the W-L column that we never wavered in supporting him.

Also, the NFL each and every year was trying to hire him away (which ended up happening) so if anyone was frustrated with Saban it was mainly our AD because he was constantly having to fend off offers and play contract games.

Have their been NFL teams making plays for Miles every year? Or any year for that matter?

Other than the Michigan job and Jeff Long helping out Miles there haven't been many offers.

I might agree but Harris looked awful against Arkansas. A lot of his throws were not close to being on target.

He regressed quite a bit this month save a couple of drives in each game.

Absolutely. A lot has to do with how badly our O Line has regressed. In the Ole Miss game last year, the O Line made a statement. We're now living out of the shotgun because of how bad the O Line has gotten. Can't see any quick fix for that problem unless Harris suddenly becomes Superman.

Not sure if beating Gene Chizik 3 times or beating Larry Coker is an accomplishment, but I agree, LSU would be absolutely nuts to fire him.

You don't have to. Simply look at your own username. Why would any team who considers themselves "NFLU" want to fire the head coach that created that identity?
