I think there's a significant amount of truth to this. If you separate the smaller cohort of knowledgeable Bama fans, from the broader group of sidewalkers/bandwagoners, who don't know anything about college football except "Bear", "Saban" and "RTR", the large, ignorant group of more casual "fans" probably pulls them into "least knowledgeable" or at least candidacy.
There is just too small a sample of Vandy fans to really judge. Kentucky has a small, but knowledgeable, group of quality football fans, but their basketball fans probably crush the rest of the conference combined, so that makes up for it a little.
Most of the rest of us are similiar in composition and level of knowledge.

I'm sure there are plenty of stupid UF fans. There are even some on this board. But, in my book, the extreme lack of knowledge about your school, team, whatever excludes you from being a fan.
There is an exception for girls. They can look good, but not have a clue what nickel coverage is, and they're still fans in the eyes of most because they put their "John 3:16" eyeblacks on for the game.
Men don't get that treatment. There are guys at every school that follow the games because that dictates when they can get dressed up and tailgate again. Those aren't fans; they're heavy drinkers that have a great excuse. If you don't get excited when the team wins and mad/sad when they lose, get off the bandwagon.
