I know most of you will think that I'm crazy/stupid/on crack for saying this, but I have never been more proud of a football team that got it's butt kicked than last night. Our defense was woefully undersized against that Texas offense (and obviously will be against most of the rest of the teams they play this year). This Ole Miss team could have quit at numerous points last night as they had under Hootie the past two years, but they never quit.

I don't think you're crazy at all for saying that. I agree. They definitely had more grit than last year's team did. That QB is going to be good, and the defense showed character on the final series when they stood the Texas guy up at the goal line and didn't let him score.

And this is not a dig at Ole Miss because it would probably happen almost anywhere, but it's too bad the Ole Miss fans didn't show the same mettle and stay there to support them while they battled.

Freeze will continue to recruit well, and I think this team is on the right path.

Time will tell. They have to get better on the defensive front, and that is almost purely a matter of recruiting.

Agree. And the great overreactment by stating that they've finally seen the vision that Harsin had and that they've found a QB now. Did they watch the game? Ash was fortunate on a few of those passes that against better talent and defenses would have been turnovers. Numbers mask a lot. We'll see when they play OU and WVU. Gonna need that offense.

This. On two long TD passes our DBs were in possition but either didn't turn around or they missed the timing on their jumps, making jump ball type throws into easy TDs.

We need Nick Brassel back, I can say he is the player I miss most after watching our secondary struggle against elite talent.

As I always said the SEC is only as strong as our weakest link so it doesnt bothr me that Ole Miss will be a better team.

Nice backhanded compliment.

I thought the same thing watching last night - Mississippi never quit but they were way out sized - to not laying down or giving up

I agree as well. Scoring 31, regardless of how your defense played is a bright spot.

Agreed, Ole Miss is fun to watch this year and play much harder than last year.

Ole Miss sort of reminds me of Arkansas in Petrino's first year. Gettin' whupped bad, but not giving up and getting a little better every game.

I only saw the first half but from what I saw, I have to agree with you. I think the OM offense is going to out score some folks this year and the defense will only get better. Texas had more talent on offense as compared to that of OM's defense but the OM guys would flat hit you. At least the players looked like they wanted to be there, unlike the last year or so under Nutt.

No you don't. He's gone for a reason and right now Ole Miss needs payers like they have on the team. The ones that want to be there and go to class.

Other note, Moncreif (sp) is a ball player.

I was unable to watch much of the game but I'm looking forward to visiting Oxford in a few weeks. The fight you describe is what football is all about.

Rebs looked good, it will take some time to fix all that needs fixing, but Freeze seems to have them headed towards brighter days.

Brassel sitting out a semester is going to turn him into a monster when he returns. He will finally understand what he threw away, I expect him to do big things when he comes back with a new outlook. He would've made some of the plays the other DBs got burned on last night.

Yeah moncreif will be all sec before it's all said and done. Other teams know he's wallace's favorite target and he still racks up video game numbers.

The Ole Miss defense didn't look good. At all. They gave up nearly 70 points and 700 yards. And I really do not think Texas is that good either. Now, with all of that said, Ole Miss is light years better than last year. At least the team doesn't quit or just take it like last season. From what I can tell so far, Freeze seems like a good hire. Their offense is moving along fairly nicely and if he can get some decent talent in on the defensive side of the ball, Ole Miss can be become bowl bound fairly soon.

With that score, how do you even know if they quit or not? :jump1: :jump2:
