You have no clue whether or not KS will make a good head coach. And the fact that Richt gets outcoached every year, then you should be "terrified" of whomever SC signs.

If indeed it's true that Herman withdrew from the job from premature reports, it's a little weird.
Fuente is/was a poor fit at USC, and was always a much better fit at VaTech.
I have liked Smart more than Herman since day one, and I've always thought he would ultimately get the gig. If this goes down, I think it's ultimately a good move. If we're going to fail with a head coach, let's roll the dice with a guy who knows our recruiting area very well, and has connections to assemble a quality staff.

Kirby could work out. Or he could flop. Risk with just about any hire, and that includes Herman.

Smart would be an excellent HC Candidate, we would be fortunate to have him. However, all of this speculation is stemming from a yahoo article from one writer who said that TH pulled his name from consideration, when the night before it was released by a SC beat writer that there were just formalities left and that TH would be SC's next HC.

I'm just familiar with coaching searches, this is how it goes. There's information and disinformation flowing like crazy. Everybody is positioning for the job they want. There are so many hypothetical possibilities about what is real and what is not right now int he coaching landscape.
Right now Herman is trying to beat Navy and win an AAC CG. He wants to keep his players focused on that. He could've leaked this info to yahoo to quell his players confusion about his job status. He could also not be interested in SC anymore. Nothing will be known until somebody signs a contract.
