I am always amazed at how cheap it is to go to UF. I pay more money to send my daughter to daycare. Tuition, room and board is freakin dirt cheap. The only problem is that most kids can't get in anymore. It's become so selective, I know some with 4.0's getting rejected. I would never get in that school today.

I remember UF having pretty high academic standards when I was in high school, for everyone except athletes of course.

With that said, assuming my daughter (nowhere near college age at this point) is of similar academic performance level to myself and my wife, it's going to take a hell of a good offer to beat "free" from Alabama ... That out of state Capstone-Presidential Scholar series of scholarships (assuming something like that still exists) is pretty crazy. Any chance you know how long they've been doing that?

My daughter turns 15 this year, and (cough) Roll Tide!

But then your daughter would have a degree from an Alabama school. And you'll all have to live with that.

Best value for kids that can't get into UT.

UT is lower on the list.

Surprised UGA's cost after aid was as high as it was.

Apparently white suburban Atlanta chicks need aid too. That's pretty much 80% of UGA's student body.

Gotta take everything into consideration. Where you get your undergraduate degree from means very little if the plan is to go to a graduate school later. Honors program at just about any "state" school + outside activities that support your "vision" is enough to get you into just about any program you want for a graduate degree. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to live with wherever she ends up going... the wife (UT) and I already agreed Florida is off the table. Everything else is fair game... (even Tech...)
