If theft isn't such a big deal, then major crimes like child abuse, rape, murder and animal cruelty in many cases would never be solved. Look up a twisted sick murderous duo in California from the 1980's. Leonard Lake and Charles NG. These guys were the poster children for a swift brutal death penalty. Lake offed himself when he was questioned by police about his comrade who stole a vise from a hardware store. I nearly puked after reading what these sick mother frickers did. Thank God for their penchant for petty theft.
