He cares only about the opportunity it gives him to be negative about Bama, hence the "mentor" comment.

Newsflash, bruh. Every SEC team has players on their roster who are less than ideal citizens..including the one you pull for.

(FTR - I think domestic violence should be an athletic career ender in instances of absolute proof)

Wait a minute....I thought fans of second chance U believed in taking in and rehabbing talented players with troubled pasts? Why can't other schools do the same?

Meh. Cam stole property.
Simmons beat the shite out of a girl.
Jordan Jefferson and friends beat up a marine. Jameis raped a girl. Joe Mixon cold-cocked a girl in a bar. The Vol player and the plunger with the cousin.

Should I continue?
That's just off the top of my head.

Kiffin's first recruit is a prick that knocked a girl silly. The guy is a cancer to the game of football.

Lol You think "stealing property" is in the same league as domestic viloence and sexual assault? I know stealing is wrong, but come on man.

One of these is not like the others, but of course Pettway did knock out other students and rob them. Saban let him back on the team so i guess kiffin's just following in his footsteps.

Before being so quick to pass judgement, ban the player from fb for life and condemn FAU & Kiffin, read this article (link below). It has some info (the other article failed to include) that makes a decent case for FAU giving him a second chance. The young man appears to have done a complete turnaround and is active in helping prevent violence against women.

ESPN: QB De'Andre Johnson, dismissed by FSU for punching woman, signs with FAU

From the ESPN article:
quote:

FAU issued a statement Wednesday saying it has done an extensive background check on Johnson, and the quarterback and his parents met with the university president, athletic director and vice president for student affairs during his visit this past weekend.

"The unfortunate incident that occurred in June 2015 that involved De'Andre has been adjudicated through the legal system," the statement said. "De'Andre has shown he is committed to using his platform to be a positive advocate for violence prevention, self-control and decision making. He will work directly with FAU Student Affairs to develop educational programming for our campus community. ... De'Andre is committed to growing and helping others in our campus and local community."

FAU also said that Johnson would work with the Mentors for Violence Prevention program to "educate, inspire and empower others to prevent, interrupt and respond to violence and abuse."

I don't have to read your article, if the kid wasn't a big prospect Kiffin wouldn't look his way. It's not about rehabilitation with Kiffin, it's about talent. So take your link and shove it up Kiffin's brown eye.

I don't have the guts to read your article and admit I might have made a mistake in judgement.

Fixed it for you.

Looks like the young man may actualy now have better character than you.

Small time programs like that have to cut corners.

If it wasn't for shady former Bama assistants who coached under legends at the Capstone, Auburn would've never crawled out of eternal irrelevancy in the late 80s and their field would still be unnamed. At least Kiffin is not a drunk, hasn't been forced out for NCAA violations, and he's not on tape talking about his pay for play systems and using racial slurs.
