Hey, last year's WVU team beat OKST.

So if Bama sucks, so does FSU.

Sims completed one pass that was thrown more than 15 yards. SEC Defenses will stack the box and shut down the run. Bama's biggest problem is their DL and secondary still sucks (Tricket threw for 365 yards) and they will face QB in the West that will eat them alive.

I love how Bama played last year's WVU team. They'll compete for the Big 12 title.

But dont you guys have 5 straight years of #1 recruiting classes? Im not jumping on you but WV should never have ever been in that game with all those athletes Bama has.

Both teams took a step back.

I agree. I'm tired of watching Bama do the same things over and over against these type offenses and continue to get torched. People will make all kinds of excuses, but that's all they are. It's the definition of insanity, and makes me want to claw my eyeballs out. But hey, it's Saban. Process, championships, etc. At the end of the day, though, Bama will compete for the West, as usual. But you're right about the talent gap.
ETA WV will put points on a lot of teams this year. The D gave up 16, with some help from WV. Not horrendous stats, but it was pretty ugly.

Agree. WVU look much improved. I understand that Bama lost a lot of defense but you are not helping your DB's by playing a soft zone giving way too much cushion on receivers.

I have the game recorded and will watch it today. Was it the style of offense that was the issue? I have only seen a few replays. Looked like some of the WV QB's throws were just good throws and the coverage was not horrible.

I hate making judgments for the good or bad off the first game. Who knows what will happen in them.

The defense looked confused at times. I'm sure when DePriest gets back things will improve because he knows the calls better than anyone I'd assume. That could be problematic when he goes out of the game in SEC play, because he doesn't look like an every down LB like Mosley was.

The offense looked good, but it was West Virginia. Kiffin put Sims into a couple of questionable situations.

No, they won't.

It was just the first game, but don't try to make WVU out to be more than they are.

It's a mentality/matchup problem; I'll admit that I'm starting to lose a little faith in Saban. Alabama is not reloading at cornerback or nose guard. The rushing and passing defenses have declined since 2011. 2011 was the last great Alabama team.

The secondary has been exposed since the 2012 season. Saban may be hauling in the #1 recruiting class, but he's either not getting the right personnel or they aren't being developed properly.

Yeah he did. He didn't have any plays where he obviously screwed up, but didn't do anything astounding either from what I saw.

Granted, I didn't watch the whole game, but I did see most of it.

Our guys dont like to admit it but we missed on him. He would have been pretty good by now in our defense. He would have more playing experience and could make some plays.

He is not the sharpest knife in the drawer but I think he will eventually get it.

Some of the defense things are overreaction.

Reuben/Ragland were first year starters and not ready to make calls for the defense, so the defense looked a little lost. Should improve when Depriest comes back. Our defense would have given up less yards if Eddie Jackson was healthy, but I agree with the decision to keep him out until there is no doubt.

I agree with some of the criticisms of our offense. Sims will not be able to do what he did against WVU when facing better defenses. If he can't prove that the defense needs to respect the deep threat then we are in for a long year.

This. If you want to stop these offenses from putting up big yardage you have to let your Dbs man up and press their receivers. Those offenses are all about timing and getting the ball out quick. Get physical with their receivers and disrupt the whole offense. Sure you might get burnt by a big play or two but that will also happen playing them soft.

I realize your coach just got a Gatorade bath for beating UNT, but you aren't really an authority on Big 12 Titles.

The game I watched reminded me of sideline parents schooling their players when they run by on the field. No way Saban was coaching Kiffin in this way.
