I think A&M goes back to a mediocre team when Johnny leaves. Thoughts?

They are going to be mediocre alright, just like Bama and LSU.

The thing is, he seems to have relied on 1 player at both A&M and Houston. When Houston's quarterback got injured they were terrible.

Keep in mind he didn't recruit either of those QBs.

The NFL practice squad scrub?

At some point it might be time to consider that the only reason Keenum set all those records was because of Sumlin.

Obviously, when Kennum went down, Sumlin said next and the offense didn't miss a beat.

That my friends is development and coaching while showing it is the system not the players that makes the Sumlin machine run.

Neither of these teams has relied on one player as much as A&M did on Manziel last year.

I'm not seeing your point.

I can see where some outsiders may think that A&M will go under after Manziel leaves, but trust me when I say we are fine at the QB position. Are they of Manziel caliber, no. But they have the potential to spread the defense out more making our offense truly start to take form. Right now it would be stupid to not take advantage of Manziel's talent.

Sumlin's the SECCOY. He's been a Bear Bryant COY finalist in 3 of his 5 years as HC.

In all but one year that he's been a HC, a D1 program has plucked one of his assistants to be its head man.

But it's not just college programs that can't wait to get a piece of the dude. The Philly Eagles offered him a job in December, and two other NFL teams sought to interview him.

There is only one coach hotter than Sumlin, and he's won 3 of the last 4 MNCs.

Let's hold steady against the urge to be tards here, fellas.

Check out our recruiting.

And this is before recruits get to see most of the $500 million being invested to give Texas A&M the best football facilities in the SEC.

Sumlin teams always have good offenses. The qb's at Houston always put up good numbers, and obviously JFF did too. He has traditionally struggled against good defenses though.

Damn, what is Sumlin gonna do after Manziel? Oh ya 5 star Kyle Allen, and then quite possibly Kyler Murray in the class of 15? Ya he's got no clue what to do after JFF

Eeeeeeazy, champ.
Let's see what he can do his second year, and especially the third year in the mighty SEC without Johnny before we crown him Kevin Christ.

No need to wait. I can tell you what will happen--it's the same thing that's happened each of his years at the helm.

He'll produce another record-breaking QB. That's what he does.

Why would anyone presume that a coach will squander talent merely because a different shitty coach did?

That's exactly what he did at Houston.

He is like June Jones when it comes to finding system QBs.
