I have read many many stupid posts on this site. But this has to be the most inaccurate one I have ever read...

In Sumlin's defense, 2010 Auburn relied on 2 players.

Cam Newton, Nick Fairley, Michael Dyer
Tim Tebow, Percy Harvin, ???
Johnny Manziel, Ryan Swope?, Damontre Moore?

One of these things is not like the others. (Hint: BCS Trophy)

ETA: And still nobody can give me an example of clutch coaching by Sumlin when all the pressure is on him and his team to win.

Look at our recruiting since we have been in the SEC and you tell me

'Crootin websites said Gene was a good recruiter too. FWIW, I've made this comparison several times. The only difference is that Gene recruited Cam and he was more successful.

If you don't think he was on the hot seat when he got to A&M then you're being extremely naive.

The problem is that your QBs are being "coached" by Kevin Sumlin.

Would you say that it's better than all mighty Tyler Wilson being coached by John L. Smith??

That year where Houston was favored to win CON-USA and then they lost Kase Keenum (spelling?), Sumlin showed how good he is with QB development and there is more to his coaching than relying on inherited QBs, he was able to salvage the season for Houston by coaching alone.

Sumlin is the 2nd best coach in this league right now. Period.

Well yeah, he's better than John L Smith and Paul Petrino. Then again, so are Dan Mullen, Joker Phillips, Gary Crowton, Jason Kidd, and my cat.

There's only one coach in the West that I would take KS over, Dan Mullen and its really close.

SEC West head coaches account for many conference titles as head coaches. Guess how many of those Kevin Sumlin is responsible for. While you're at it, there is another head coach responsible for the exact same amount.

Unless he won 3 games he wasn't going to be fired after 1 season.

And he still lost 2 early on. His biggest win of the season the pressure was on Bama, not A&M.

There's a good answer.
