As good.....probably better.
Depth is just as good and better at most positions on the defense. Safety being the only question, but there are guys to plug in from the corner position if need be. Nick Coe is a guy that should turn heads on the d-line this season, after redshirting last season. The d-line has just about as many guys on the roster as last year. Linebacker got better, from all the experienced guys coming back, plus young talented guys coming in to learn.
Held the champions to 19 points last season, which nobody else came close to.
The fact that there's some quality assistants under Steele should ease any Auburn fans mind. The fundamentals are being taught.

I was shocked Steele was so successful last year
He somehow managed to make LSU suck on defense
I'm really interested to see how he does this year. Auburn 2016 was the first time in his entire career as a DC that a defense improved statistically the year after he took over.

Safety depth is the only thing that concerns me.
We'll trade you one for an offensive lineman ?
We have too many right now for my liking. We legit have 10 options on the line. Hopefully once pads get on that number shrinks.

Is that similar to the whirly bird?
Same thing. New OC has a different name for it.

I don't get what you're on about. Steele said he loves Alabama and never intends to move. It's his home state.

Regression.
Like every defense he coaches.
Like every defense he coaches.

Sometimes you can tell about a D-Cor on how he does with a track record of his 2nd years at a school.

He's been in Alabama since like 2013 and maybe even longer. That makes it his home state.

Steele did a good job of getting opponents in 3rd & long and then rushing 4 guys and playing Cover 2 or Quarters coverage and not giving up big plays on the blitz.
That said he faced a bunch of first year QBs (including some making their very first start). He won't have that luxury this year.

Well, you're trying to equate "state one lives in" with "home state".
It doesn't mean "state where your house is".
