Sometimes I think I take these sports too seriously then I come here and I'm often reminded that isn't the case

Wow...look, he's a contractor and he's made tons of connections and will be used by house builders in new neighborhoods because contractors use pretty much the same guys. This isn't hurting his business as much as you think it is.

And you're completely missing the point. Even if what you say is true and this isn't going to cost him one client, it's the intent that's the main issue. Kentucky fans are driving his rating down because of a poorly officiated game. They're trying to destroy his livelihood because they're upset about a basketball game. If you don't think that's fricked up then I've got nothing for you.

It's fricked up, but what idiot wouldn't use his business because he was a shite referee?

Didn't Auburn fans do something similar to a recruit's family business a few years ago when he didn't sign with them?

He would have to be the best by a long shot if he screwed LSU for me to give him money.

For sure in this day and age. Just look at what happens to any business now days that comes out in support of either political party. They get ravaged online by the other party. It's not surprising that those tactics would start to roll over into other online factions.

True. It's really easy for people to fall into a mob mentality online. There is something about saying nasty shite on a computer that makes people feel like what they are doing isn't wrong.

This guy was so bad at an Auburn game that I remember looking up his name. He's terrible.

A big problem with things like this is that it discourages people who would be good refs from volunteering (basically what they're doing at the college level), so the officiating isn't going to improve.

For P5 refs, they're making around $2000/game. And that's after expenses. Cmon man.

I won't use his business because I don't live in Omaha...and because he's a known a-hole. Think Penn Wagers-type arrogance but with actual skill.

2007 - Texas A&M at Texas. DOUBLE OVERTIME GAME. Final Score: Texas 96, Texas A&M 94

Total Fouls:

Texas A&M - 24
Texas - 7

There's no possible way that, in 50 minutes of basketball that a team only commits SEVEN fouls.

You have to ref a shite ton of HS and small college games before you get to that point.

He's an awful official and several games involving him and UK have been poorly officiated.

With that said, this is why I don't do facebook.

"John personally came out to fix my roof," Melvin Matthew wrote on Higgins' company page. "I'll say this guy was very professional, he hit on my 13-year-old son and clogged my toilet and didn't tell anyone."

I'm sure he's a bad ref. Corrupt is a different thing, though.

Ok. You said they were volunteering. Top refs are doing 90-110 games per year. They're not volunteering.

If you're playing against Kansas or t.u., you're playing 5 on 8 when he leads the officiating crew.

He's abysmal. If you're not favored and he's reffing the game, fricked.

That's the same as when ACC teams play Duke. I would bet it's more subconscious bias than actual corruption.
