Him or Reggie

beckwith will be a 1st rounder no doubt

quote:

Ed Orgeron coaches the front 7 and Raymond still has the secondary

correct

quote:

so Steele will have no impact on the defense taking a step back or forward

I mean, he's still the DC. And he'll coach LBers.

If you honestly came here expecting a definitive answer to this question, you should get your head checked.

Usually aggie threads made about our defense are flaming. Actually, any aggie thread about us is likely a flame.

So how would you rate Steele in his first season if O and Raymond are getting credit for coaching the front 7 and secondary? Legit question not trolling. Will they be scapegoats if the defense takes a step back? Will they be disregarded and Steele seen as Superman if the defense is #1 in the SEC?

Beckwith and Ragland are probably going to be 1 and 2. Which one will be which is going to be decided in the field this year.
As for this . . .
quote:

He also claims "Ed Orgeron coaches the front 7 and Raymond still has the secondary so Steele will have no impact on the defense taking a step back or forward....."

Is this true?

Ed O is a DL coach, not the whole front seven. Steele is a proven LB coach and a question mark at DC. Between Raymond, Ed O, and Steele we arguably have top 5 position coaches in the country at every position group, but our play calling will be a huge unknown, so saying Steele won't have an impact is silly. We'll see if it's good or bad impact. I'm optimistic.

He's Top 2 or 3 easily. I just hope he doesnt get hurt because our depth there is super thin.

Beckwith will be in the discussion at the end of the season for best mlb no doubt about it, but to say he is the best right now would be putting the wagon in front of the horse. From what I understood Steele is the linebackers coach not O.

he's 2nd team all SEC after his sophomore year. he's 250 lbs and ran a 4.55. NFLDraftScout.com has him listed as the 3rd best LB in the country. He's just going into his junior season.

It may be aggressive, but barring injury, I'd be willing to wager that he is taken in the 1st round.

I don't understand the question. Position coaches always get credit for their positions doing well. O is a technique genius and we all know what Raymond does with DBs.

quote:

Will they be scapegoats if the defense takes a step back?

That would be on the man in charge of the defense. O and Raymond are proven at this point. But honestly, lack of DL and LB recruiting will give Steele a pass if the defense regresses due to injury.

Will they be disregarded and Steele seen as Superman if the defense is #1 in the SEC?

LSU fans are pretty in-the-know with our defense. I'd say all 3 would get the praise they deserve.

There is only one and it is Ragland. Dominique Alexander is 3, but I doubt anyone here has seen an OU game.
