You're overlooking K-State's history. They've been playing football since 1896. Prior to his arrival, they'd won 9 or more games exactly once. With him at the helm, they've done it 12 times. They'd been to one bowl in their history and had only 4 winning seasons in the last 50 years. With him there, they've gone to 15 bowls and had winning seasons in 17 out of 22 years.
I'd like to hear your opinion on Steve Spurrier.

I almost used him in my Snyder post. He's done a fantastic job everywhere he's ever been, but even the job he's done at South Carolina pales in comparison to what Snyder's done at K-State.

Spurrier's raised Carolina to a level of sustained success they've never had before - but they'd been successful (as in 7+ win seasons and bowl bids) in the past with multiple coaches. Holtz had three winning seasons in the five years before Spurrier arrived. K-State had four in the 50 years prior to Snyder.

Similarly, at Florida he took over the program and immediately turned them into title contenders but that program had only experienced only 3 losing seasons in the last 30 years.

The job he did at Duke was on a par with what Snyder's done, but Spurrier didn't stay at Duke long enough to demonstrate the ability to sustain success in that environment (not saying he couldn't, I suspect he could have done so).

Snyder took over a program that had been junk for its entire existence and made it a very consistent winner. If that wasn't enough, the minute he retired, the program went back to being junk. Snyder came back, and it is that same consistent winner again.

Could he come to a major SEC program and consistently win like Miles, Saban, and Spurrier have done? I don't know, but to do what he's done in Manhattan, Kansas (who's metro population is 2/3rds that of Auburn-Opelika, less than half that of Tuscaloosa and Gainsville, and 1/9th that of Baton Rouge) has been amazing.

Nobody does more with less than Snyder.

The guy never makes a mistake, and his players rarely do. They also trust him completely and play hard for him. I've seen the Wildcats win an awful lot of games by simply taking what the other team gives them.

That said, I think AU has too many horses under the hood to lose this one (unless they turn the ball over).

AU 35, KSU 31

Snyder feasted on constantly scheduling cupcakes in the OCC and the pillow fight that was the post-late-90s-Nebraska Big 12 North.

well that's just not happening

I see this as a beat down against an overmatched Big XII team that is overhyped if anything else

K-State is going up against a wave of talent they don't really see outside of Oklahoma - say what you will about the Chiz but he got talent on campus and so has Gus

Does losing to a D2 school count as a mistake?

K. State barely beat Iowa State who is 0-2 and got beat by North Dakota State. North Dakota State is ESPN's new Boise State. Don't believe the hype..

Only way Auburn losses is if several key players miss the flight.

I'll be shocked if K State keeps it within two scores.

This is stupid all over. NDSU is really good. would be top 25-40 in FBS. watch the damn games. what does ESPN have to benefit hyping an FCS school? They are in one of the least populous places in the country. They are not a bracket buster like Boise threatened to be.

I think it's genuinely more likely they went to NDSU for gameday last year to punish the fbs for collectively offering zero interesting games in week 3, and the espn staff had such a great time they decided to go back.

That said, KSU typically improves a lot during the season and I don't see Auburn dropping the first game they had to actually prepare for.
