IDK. He's always looked pretty pedestrian against us.
He had a lower QB rating versus Vandy ( ), but the second lowest rating of the season was against Missouri. Probably the pass rush... Missouri had 6 sacks on the day.
Hard to tell what kind of QB he is given the OLine problems at UT. He's fairly consistent and predictable, much like Brandon Allen, but I don't think he can carry a team on his shoulders.
With some help from the OL and a good year from the RBs, he could have a solid, but not great, year IMO.

See my avi? That's from the first time y'all faced him. He didn't start that game either. See who he's burning? Just one of your GOATs and one of the same guys he burnt again this past year.
But if you truly believe the GOAT Defensive Minded Coach and GOAT Active HC didn't prepare for Dobbs and honestly thought Nate Peterman would play most of that game I don't know what to tell you.
Who finished the game the previous week and started against Alabama again?
Also, when you played your FCS game the week before Ole Miss, how many snaps did Dobbs take after Worley was taken out?
Peterman took the final snaps, and Dobbs took 0 snaps in the FCS game and was obviously not your 2nd QB in line.
But if you want to ignore those things, well I guess you can.

Impressive that you took the time to put all that together.
I like that you mentioned the TEs. That's a position group that I feel is oft overlooked and is pretty solid. Our TEs should be dangerous this season.
Edit: @Quintana, he has looked very average against Mizzou and other teams. Credit has to be given to your D...I know y'all catch shite about down east-blah, blah, blah, but Mizzou flat out whipped UT last year and has been better than given credit for. I do look for Dobbs to take a step forward this year and I think he will cut down on mistakes and learn when to not try to win the game in one play.

I think he's a talented player, but I'm just saying let's hold off on the GOAT stuff.
No one's calling Dobbs GOAT. He ain't Peyton Manning.

It's actually pretty simple. Both those games were played with a backup center. The backup center was so bad that on one play Vandy had a guy blow past our center and tackle an RB several yards behind the LOS and believe me it was a nasty tackle. He was so bad that I honestly thought he was going to get Marlin Lane killed on several occasions.
Y'all both fall last on the schedule and we've been a team without depth. It's shown each time. The irony of citing a lower QBR for Vandy is that without Dobbs we don't win that game. Hurd was out, our WRs were out, our Center was out, our MLB was out.

That makes sense.
I don't think he's bad by any means, I just don't see him carrying a team.
I certainly don't think he'll be in the top 3 QBs in the SEC this fall. To be fair, I have the same feeling about Mauk.

Why didn't you put any gifs of the ole miss game?

That's where you're wrong. If Worley stays healthy we don't go bowling and the media's prediction of 4-5 wins is proven correct. The entire team improved, even our crappy oline (though it took a step back when the center was out) improved, the moment Dobbs stepped on the field. Even our defense improved because they knew they had someone who could make plays (they'd gotten worn out).
He's not played great games against Mizzou (Mizzou and Vandy have been his worst both years) so I understand the skepticism but he's carried the team several times. Vandy and SC being prime examples - both games are losses without Dobbs. The SC comeback you should watch sometime, although SC lost several games like that last year, they beat us badly without Dobbs and it's not even a close game at any point but something like SC 50+ UT 3.
Also, keep in mind that although Dobbs is a 2 year starter to you going on 3. He's never been the starting QB of our team until now and this will be the first year he's our starting QB. He doesn't even have a full season of games under his belt and had pretty much no first team reps (he wasn't even taking 2nd team reps as he was trying to redshirt both times) before being forced into action. That hurts a QB a lot because he has no chemistry built up with the WRs.

That's a very different argument. It's just saying that Dobbs is the best QB UT has and that they're better with him than with someone else.
No argument from me about that. But that doesn't make Dobbs a top 3 SEC QB.

He looked pretty pedestrian for the most part against Missouri and Vanderbilt last season.
He played well against Alabama, Iowa, South Carolina and Kentucky.
He single handedly put the team on his back for the Carolina game. I think he ended up throwing for something like 300+ yards and rushed for closer to 200. I'd say that was his break out game of last season
To be fair though, replacing our center in the Missouri game was a killer against a very good DT. The push from the middle of the DL and the ends was to much for an inexperienced line and it showed.
On the Vanderbilt game, he was missing most of his starting skill players due to season ending injuries. Rough game to watch and I wasn't crazy about the play calling, but we were depleted so I was happy just to get the W.
He's got a chance to be special as an upperclassmen IMO. He is going to need more help on the OL, but I think the pace of play is going to be to his benefit. Going into year 3 we should finally be playing at the tempo needed for this offense to truly thrive -- not quite Oregon fast, by design, but close.
Pinkel is a great coach, but he didn't do anything more than Butch in years 1 and 2 at Missouri. Next year should be telling as to what the future holds IMO
