I knew that much.
That kinda came off as dickish. Sorry about that.
The Cardinals were in St Louis until '87 I think.
I have heard the name but didn't know anything about him, but I agree with you. Sounds like a great man.

John David Crow was a stud. I was a kid when he played for the StL Cardinals. Fast with great hands. He looked like a man among boys at times.
Peace to his family.

I have some mutual cousins with JDC. He and my dad were tight once upon a time but I only really knew him in the '70s when he was coaching at NLU(ULM). (As a kid I tried to copy the droopy grin. My mom reslly, really hated it.) I would occasionally see him at weddings and funerals but I never really knew him as an adult. Very friendly man though, and seemed quite the bruiser in his day.

Gene Stallings who played with Crow, coached the Cardinals during their transition from St. Louis to Phoenix.

It's a copy. Usually the player and school get a copy. I'm not sure which copy was given to the Bryant Museum.

Is it really? They should give that back to the Aggies.....
I don't know about then, but they give 2 now. 1 for the school and 1 for the player. I'm fine with it in Bear's museum if JDC wanted it there.

Right in the front entrance of the Bright Complex.

quote:I don't think he was trolling. One of John David Crow's heisman trophies is really located at the Bryant Museum. I have seen it many times.
Might I suggest that you rethink your posting habits when you stoop so low as to troll an RIP thread? Thanks.

If Ingram does run over Florida and pick up enough momentum to win the trophy, it will be Alabama’s first Heisman, but the second one on its campus. The 1957 Heisman won by John David Crow under Bryant at Texas A&M sits to the right of the entrance to the Bryant museum. Crow’s family donated the Heisman to the museum.
Since the museum itself is a timeline of Alabama football, the trophy does not really fit, said the museum director, Kenneth Gaddy. Too good to tuck in the archives, Crow’s Heisman is left at the entrance. But if Ingram brought a Heisman to Tuscaloosa, Gaddy would find room for it. LINK

May he rest in peace and condolences to his family.

His son went to Alabama and worked for Bryant before being killed in a car accident. His family later donated the trophy to the Museum.
The school's Heisman resides at A&M.

Who remembers the Dallas Texans moving to Kansas City to become the Chiefs?

Here's an interview John David Crow did when he attended the Junction Boy's reunion at the Bryant Museum in 2012. He seemed to love Coach Bryant. Said his son played at Alabama and he coached at Alabama, had 2 granddaughters and a daughter-in-law graduate from Alabama. Said Alabama is a close second but "I am an Aggie, I am an Aggie, and I will be pulling for the Aggies tomorrow." And Manziel won it for them.
